Civil Rights Movement was a world
wide political movement for equality
before the law occurring between 1950
and 1980.



The Civil Rights Movement helped create
racial equality in the United States. Racial
separation was challenged many times in
court (ex: Brown VS. Board of Ed, Plessy
VS. Ferguson). The court ruled in favor of
separation as long as the facilities were
equal. In fact, they were not.The Civil
Rights Movement helped create racial
equality in the United States.

Luther King Jr. was an American activist and a
prominent leader of the Civil Rights
Movement. He preached non-violence, saying
that if you fight back, you have justified the
violence toward you. He is most famously
known for his "I have a dream" speech, which
he delivered in 1963 in Washington D.C. The
Civil Rights Movement helped create racial
equality in the United States.

Civil Rights Activist who, in 1955, refused to
give up her seat on a public bus to a white man.
She was arrested after. Following her release
from jail she participated in the Montgomery Bus

in of February 1st, 1960 sparked a series of
peaceful protests a t an all white restaurant. Four
African American students of North Carolina
A+T college sat at a counter and refused to leave
until they were served. The very next day the
counter was full of 24 students who took part in a
second sit in. The chaos eventually led to the
closure of the restaurant. The Civil Rights
Movement helped create racial equality in the
United States.
