Millie the monster has three BIG eyes,

And loves to help her Mum make pies.

Millie the monster has great BIG claws,

And purple fur that covers her paws.

Millie the monster starts school today,

And she would much rather run away.

“Mom, Do I have to go? I’m different from the rest”

“Yes Millie and don't forget, it’s what’s on the inside that’s best.”

Millie the monster picks up her backpack and says one last goodbye.

She is ready to meet new friends, play, learn,  and say hi.

Millie walks into the classroom and the rest is a blur

As suddenly all eyes are on her.

Millie the monsters’ purple face turns

PINK

And someone drops their pencil with a CLINK!

With three BIG eyes,

And great BIG claws,

And purple fur that covers her paws!

Millie the monster is the only one

Millie the monster goes home that day,

With no other wish than to run away.

Millie’s mom knows what she's feeling,

And right away helps her start healing.

Millie the monster wakes up feeling sad.

She puts her claws in the air and calls herself “bad.”

Millie feels hurt, confused and

alone.

But there's a surprise for Millie that is not known.

Millie the monsters’ day starts with a great big hug,

And Millie the monster leaves feeling

snug.

A surprise note is in her lunch box

To ensure that this new day rocks!  

Millie the monster opens her lunch and inside is a letter

That makes Millie feel 100 times better!

She reads the note from her mom with a great big smile.

It makes sitting alone at lunch worthwhile!

“Sweetie you are different, but never doubt

That you are beautiful inside and OUT

Go ahead and talk to a girl or boy

Making friends will bring you joy!”

Millie the monster then took a chance,

And asked Sally if she likes to dance!

Sally says yes, and feeling as lucky as a four leaf clover,

Sally asks Millie if she’d like to sleepover!

Millie the monster goes home happy that day

And no longer wants to run

away

Millie the monster is excited to tell her mom the good news,

She knows that her mother won’t refuse.

Millie the monster is getting ready,

When all of the sudden she feels unsteady.
