Prologue

There was an abandoned house and in the backyard there was a 100 year old cubby. It was no ordinary cubby though, it was a portal to other lands and it still works today.

Some days there are very peculiar lands, other days they are bad.

Today was one of those days.

I – runaway

Two naughty children had packed trunks full of all their stuff snuck some food and money and run away.

Their names were Miley and Jack. Miley was eight and Jack was ten.

When they came across the abandoned house Jack said, "This will do."

"At least it's near the cemetery where its always dead silent," Miley said.

"And we have a place to live," Jack told her.

II – moving in

They started doing their rooms. Miley got hers done first because hers was closest to the door, so she had to start doing the pantry. After Jack did his room he figured out how to get electricity without having to pay. While they cleaned the house Jack spotted the cubby.

"Hey, wanna go check that cubby out before we finish the living room?" He asked.

"Ok, we do need a break," Miley said.

They went out and opened the door. They saw the cubby room but when they walked in they started to feel dizzy and it was like they had just woken from a one minute nap.

III – off on an adventure

Suddenly they woke up and found themselves in a jail cell.

"Hey! Isn’t this jailbreak our favourite video game?" Miley asked. She was looking around in wonder.

"I think so." Jack said.  There's the hole in the wall and the bars so it definitely is.

"I think we have to do a couple of the levels to get out," he said.

"Well we know what to do, we just have to escape the jail and probably have to find the portal too,  let's go," Miley said.

So they started the first level which was just climbing a hole in the wall. Next they had to dodge lasers but there was a pattern which was 4,6,2,8 and the beat was ½, ½, ½, ½.

IV – getting used to it

They were up to level five when they started getting used to being inside their favourite game.

"So if this is level six we're up to the floor is lava challenge next," Jack said at the end of level Five."

"I know how to do this level easily," Miley replied, "You run to the middle of the floor as quickly as you can and then you use your boost to jump to the object closest to land, which is the potted plant, and then you jump to land."

"I knew that too," Jack said jealously as he didn't actually know.

So that’s what they did Miley went first. Then Jack, who almost got his feet burnt off.

V – End at last

About one hour later they came to the last level.

"We must be at the last level. I see a portal with same cubby room we saw before,"Jack said.

"I don’t know this level Jack," Miley told him.

"I don’t know it either Miley," Jack replied.

"Well, we'll just give it a shot," she said bravely.

VI – finally finished

Jack went first. When he ran onto the floor it collapsed down into the lava below. There was nothing left except for where he was standing and a few other pieces to get to land.

"How am I supposed to make it to the further bits of floor?" Jack asked.

"Try tapping the air," Miley suggested.

"Tap the air? Why?" Jack asked.

"Because there might be buttons. We are still in the game Jack," she reasoned.

So that’s what Jack did but when he tapped the air he went flying down and fell in to the lava.

"I’ll go next," Miley sighed.

"But I’ll try running up to the platforms and jump without stopping," she said enthusiastically

And when she ran and jumped she made it to the next platform, and then the next. She did it with all of the little pieces of floor left and made it across. Jack copied Miley and got across too.

They walked through the portal together and got the same dizziness they got the first time.

VII – normal cubby

When Jack and Miley woke up they found themselves on a cosy couch with fizzy rainbow drinks in their hands. There were also two very calming, nice looking people with wings looking over them watching them.

"Hi! I`m Ariana and this is Selena," one of the fairies said politely.

Ariana had dark brown hair and hazel eyes. She was wearing the most beautiful blue dress they had ever seen. It had flowers all over it with golden string too.

Selena had brown hair. It was lighter then Ariana’s. She had blue eyes and was wearing a beautiful blue and green stripy t-shirt with a yellow skirt.

They both had white fluffy wings.

"We thought you might want a drink," Selena said pointing to Jack's drink.

"Oh, how very nice of you'," Miley replied. She was feeling a little shocked. Jack found his voice first and said, "I'm Jack and this is my sister Miley."

"Nice to meet you Jack and Miley" they both said.

"So how did you find our cubby and why are you here?" Ariana asked.

"Well we ran away from our parents because we heard them talking about sending us to boarding school and we decided to live in the main house here," Jack explained.

"We chose it because we thought no one lived here. But you actually do," Miley finished.

"Well we've got to go then," Jack added sadly.

And they left silently.

"Wait!" Ariana called after them. Then she and Serena whispered to each other while Jack and Miley watched.

"You can stay," Serena said to them when she and Ariana had finished.

Jack and Miley were so excited they jumped around like crazy. When they had calmed down they decided to go and keep cleaning up their new house. Just before they left Selena told them how to find the fairies if they needed them.

VIII – Bad news

"I'm bored," Miley complained to Jack about a week after their first adventure. "I wonder if there is anyone else that lives in the cubby."

"Well there's only one way to find out," Jack said.

So they went to the cubby and knocked on the door three times like Selena had told them to. Selena opened the door and gestured them to come in.

There was no one else in the cubby. Miley wanted to know where Ariana was and when she asked Selena she didn't look very happy.

"Miley, Jack; Sit down," Selena told them, "Ariana went to a world an hour ago and hasn't returned. We have to find her but we'll have to hurry the portal will shut in a few minutes.

So they rushed through the portal and found themselves in a grave.
