
Tropical fish
Most tropical fish live in warm water near the equator. They do not live in colder parts of the ocean. Most tropical fish are sleek and slippery. Their skin is covered with thousands and thousand of tiny scales. Many fish live in coral reefs. The cracks and caves are perfect places to rest. They are also great places to hide from predators. Some tropical fish swim together in big groups called schools.
Octopus
Octopus have soft bodies. Octopus can fit into small places like cracks in between coral. Octopus have large eyes. Octopus have eight tentacles. Each tentacles has two rows of suckers. Suckers hold food. Octopus hide from predators. Octopuses can change color to look like their surroundings.
Sea stars
Sea stars have arms called rays. Sea stars have five or more rays. Sea stars can lose rays new rays can grow. Sea stars have small feet on each ray. Sea stars pull on to rocks with their feet. Some sea stars can eat clams. Sea stars can open clam shells with their feet.
Crabs
Crabs live in or near oceans. Crabs have ten legs. Crabs can run sideways. Crabs have two claws called pincers
on their front legs. Crabs hold food with their pincers. Crabs outgrow and shed their shells.
Crabs grow new shells.
Sea anemones
Sea anemones are ocean animals. Some sea anemones attach themselves to coral reefs. Some sea anemones attach themselves to rocks. Sea anemones can be colorful. Sea anemones have soft bodies and have no bones.
Jellyfish
Jellyfish are actully not fish.
Jelly fish have been here over 500 years.
Jelly fish got there name by the materiel they are made of.
Jellyfish are boneless bloodless and brainless.
Sharks
Sharks have been around for about 400 million years. Sharks have the most powerful jaws in the world and they also never run out of teeth. Normally they eat on their own but sometimes they eat together. They will eat anything in their way including other sharks. Sharks live on a diet of sea animals. They eat seals dolphins turtles and seagle. Some sharks are harmless. The most harmless sharks tend to be the biggest. These big sharks eat plankton. Sharks comunicate with other sharks far away. Angle sharks cover themselves with sand or mud. Bull sharks are the third most dangerous to people.
Eel
There are over 800 species of eels. Fresh water eels are known to travel as far as 4000 miles to breed. Eel is a delicacy in some cultures but its blood is toxic. Eels live in both salt water and fresh water. The eels backbone is made up over 100 vertebrae which makes it very flexible.Eels have gills and very sharp teeth. Most eels live in caves and under rocks and in crevices. After the eel breeds it dies. Eels begin life as a flat transparent larvae.
Sea urchin
About 950 species live on the seabed, inhabiting all oceans and depth zones from the intertidal to 5000
meters. Their tests are round and spiny, typically from 3 to 10 across. Sea urchins move slowly with their tube feet, and sometimes pushing themselves with their spines.
Killer whales
Killer whales live in the pacific ocean on the western part of Canada. Killer whales are part of the dolphin family and can weigh up to 6 tons which is about 5500 kg. A killer whale is a mammal. Killer whales can grow to about 23 to 32 feet { 7 to 9 meters }. Killer whale teeth can grow to 4 inches { 10 centemeters }. Killer whales live 50 to 100 years. Killer whales eat sea lions and whales.
Puffer fish
There are over 100 species of puffer fish. Puffer fish have a hard time swimming so it is easy for a predator to eat it. Some puffer fish live in salt water but some live in fresh water. When a puffer fish blows up it is actully drinking water and putting it in its belly. Puffer fish can be deadly. If something ate a puffer fish it would die in about one hour.
