On Billy Bear's 8th birthday, his parents gave him his very own computer. He was so excited!

"I can't wait to show all my friends!" said Billy.

Over the next few days, Billy played on his computer non-stop. The only things he stopped playing on his computer for were sleep and food.

Billy's parents grew worried that he was spending too much time on the internet. They decided to talk with Billy about some new computer rules.

Billy's parents asked "Billy, don't you miss seeing your friends?"

Billy replied "I have lots of friends on the internet. I tell them all about my life. I am planning to meet one of them tomorrow after school."

Billy's parents were so upset they didn't know what to do! They called their friend for help.

Mr. Oliver came over as quickly as possible. He was worried that Billy did not know how to be safe on the internet.

"Billy, you should never give out any information about yourself online without your parent's permission. You can never be sure if the person you are talking to is really your friend!"

Billy didn't realize how careful he needed to be online. So he asked Mr. Oliver "But what if someone online wants to meet with me?"

Randy Racoon: Hey Billy! I want to meet you! How about 3 o'clock?

Mr. Oliver's face looked worried. "Well Billy, you should absolutely positively never agree to meet with someone that you have met online. If someone you haven't met in person says they want to meet with you, then you should tell your parents immediately" said Mr. Oliver in a serious tone.

Billy was beginning to realize that there were rules he needed to follow to keep him safe online.

He said to Mr. Oliver, "Sometimes I see people saying bad things online. It upsets me."
