On July 13, 1985 in Luttrell Tennessee, Carolyn Muncey was found dead near her home. A few months before this incident, Paul House moved in with his mother. Since Paul was an outsider with a criminal record, he was automatically made a suspect in this case.

Carolyn Muncey's bloodied body was found under some brush by the bank of a creek. She was found in her nightgown with a coat on and it was discovered that she had been raped and beaten.
