Chapter One

I Didn't Know

Look, I didn't know anything before you start reading this book. You might think I am a big jerk who doesn't care about anything. But really that's not true. It wasn't even my fault. I mean who even knew water was a bad thing or even sharks? Anyways back to the point- I really regret every thing I did. I mean to be honest I wish I could flip things around. Just keep that in mind will ya?

Chapter Two

It All Started When...

Everything has to have a start... right? Well everything was okay until my friends decided to come to the beach. "Happy Birthday Sherald!" We all sang to my friend. Sherald's mom cut the beautiful cake. It was a pink cake with strawberry filling on the inside. Saying the truth here- I don't really like strawberry at all. But my mom was giving me that grown-up face which said "Hannah I'm warning you to be nice to everything given to you" I had to listen. When I got my slice I pretended I needed to use the bathroom.

My mom knew what I was doing. She didn't seem to mind. I stood in the bathroom for a couple for minutes. Then I flushed the toilet and washed my hands. (I actually washed my hands because I like there coconut soap.)

I came out the bathroom to see Sherald, Ava, and Darcy (my best friends.) sitting at the table where they ate there cake. It seemed as if they were waiting for someone. Was that me? "Hannah!" Ava wrapped her arms around me.

"Someone seems happy." Darcy said smiling. I has no idea where our parents had gone. I looked around as if there were somewhere there.

"If you're looking for your parents they left to a restaurant." Ava frowned. I was pretty surprised. I felt something was fishy about this. My suspicions were on. I had a bunch a questions rushing through my head.

"Without me." I slurred. To be honest I kinda regret saying that. It was Sheralds birthday and I was focusing on myself. I felt a guilty sensation in my belly.

"Lets go to the beach!" Sherald said. She smirked at me. That was the first time she has ever done such a weird thing.

Chapter Three

Beach Terror

Everything was pretty fun. We were play tag in the sand. Building sandcastles. We were throwing sand balls at each other. But then came the point that I didn't want coming. "Lets go swim in the ocean!" Ava said. Overwhelmed, I asked if we could do that later. Of course the answer was NO. They splashed into the water as I held back nervously.

"Whats the problem?" Sherald asked. I took a deep breath.

"Nothing!" I chuckled unable to keep my breath back.

Of course they kept on asking. Just the classic curious friends. I shrugged. "My mom said I can't go in he water until I am 14. I was ready for giggling. Yeah Ava and Sherald started the giggle a bit, but they stopped shortly after.

"Face it." Sherald started "Your mom is another lair who will continue with these lies." I was frustrated. No one would ever even listen.

"Do you know why though?" Darcy questioned me.

"Mhm" I mumbled.

Chapter Four

Confrontation

"Spit it out then!" Sherald yelled. I just wanted to scream at Sherald "SHUT UP WILL YA!?" I knew that was too harsh though.

"Monsters chase after me." There was a long silence. I didn't want to break the silence but I did. "Land is the safest place for me." The next 10 seconds was complete silence. Sherald burst in laughter. I was in total rage.

"Lets go sit on those benches" Dacy took me by my arm

"Wait!" I screeched. Darcy paused. "Where is Ava!?" Ava was three years younger than us. Of course she went somewhere without us. Sherald stopped laughing. Ava was Sheralds baby sister. Loosing Ava will ruin Sheralds reputation. Everyone was quiet.

"She is so disobedient." Sheralds sobbed. She came out of the water. "Please help me out here." Darcy came closer to Sherald. I was hoping she'd say no but she said yes. I really didn't want help to, but what other choice did I have? It was Sheralds birthday. Ava was a sweet little girl.

I took a big breath. "I'll... I'll try"
