Lara de Beer is 7 jaar oud. Sy het bruin
boksterte en sproete op haar neus.

Lara de Beer is 7 years old. She has brown
pony tails and freckles on her nose.

Die de Beer familie het 'n week gelede na 'n
klein dorp in die Wes-Kaap verhuis.
Last week, the de Beer family moved to
a small town in the Western Cape.

Lara se pappa is 'n bouer en haar
mamma verf graag baie mooi prente vir
hulle huis.

Lara's daddy is a builder and her
mommy loves to paint pretty pictures
for their home.

Henk is Lara se bababoetie en hy speel
graag met Oros, die familie se spaniël
hond.
Lara’s baby brother is called Henk and
he and loves to play with Oros, the
family’s spaniel dog.

Lara is baie bly oor haar nuwe kamer en
die groot tuin. Daar is net een
probleem, sy het nie ‘n maatjie nie.
Lara is very glad about her new room
and the big garden. There is only one
problem. She doesn’t have a friend.

One afternoon, the sun was shining and it was
lovely and warm. Lara played in the garden. She
saw a little girl laughing and splashing in the
neighbour's swimming pool. Lara really wanted a
friend but she was too shy to talk to the girl.

Oros het lui in die boom se skaduwee gelê.
Net sy een oog was oop en hy kon sien dat
Lara hartseer was.
Oros was lying in the shade of the tree. Only
his one eye was open and he could see that
Lara was sad.

Skielik kry hy toe ‘n slim plan! Hy het seker
gemaak dat niemand hom sien nie. Oros
hardloop toe vinnig na die bure se huis en daar
sit hy toe by die tuinhek en tjank.

Suddenly, he thought of a clever plan! He
made sure that nobody could see him. Oros
quickly ran to the neighbour's house where he
sat howling at the garden gate.
