Screen Readers:
Screen readers are most often used for those that are visually impaired. It can read text from a
website when a screen magnifier is not enough. This would be an extremely helpful tool for a
student that is visually impaired, in order to help them participate. It will also allow inclusion of
the student into group projects and some autonomy as well. Even with my student that used a
screen magnifier, she struggled to read a lot at one time. This would have been useful for her.
Braille tools:
There are multiple tools for Braille if a student knows how to read and use
Braille. There is software for math and science and reading and writing.
This site also gives information about how students can connect with
various smart phones. I had no idea there were so many resources if a
student uses Braille--but that would be the first step. But even using a few
of the resources available on this site would help the student in the
classroom for participation and learning.
