When Cindy was seven years old, her parents died
in a car crash. The police had called Cindy’s aunt, Verra,
because she was Cindy’s closest relative. Verra had
said, “Sure, I’ll let the poor, little girl stay with us.”
Cindy had only met her aunt one time before, and right
when they met, Cindy didn’t like her Aunt because she
seemed selfish and mean, and Cindy was right .The only
reason Verra was letting Cindy stay with her, was
because Cindy’s parents were fairly rich. All their money
would have been given to Cindy, but Verra would have
gotten the money instead, if she was Cindy’s caretaker.

Cindy, do this!
Cindy, do that!

Cindy had to leave her school and all her friends
when she moved away from her hometown. Cindy had
no fun living with her aunt. Her cousins teased her any
second they had. Her cousins were Cindy’s age. The
one is Gretchen and the other is Brianna. Cindy had to
listen to them complain, all the time. They always made
fun of her for having only one friend. Callie was her
friends’ name. Callie was best friends with Cindy. Callie
had short brown hair. Callie was really shy and quiet.
Eight years later …..

Dancenext week

At school, Cindy met this really cute boy. His name was
Kainan. All the girls in school wanted to be noticed by
him, because he was tall and had dark blonde hair. He
was smart and everyone thought he was really nice.
A dance is held every year for the 6th, 7th and 8th
graders at Cindy’s school. All the girls wanted to go and
dance with Kainan. All any of the girls could talk about,
was wanting to dance with Kainan. Callie talked to Cindy
about how she was so excited about going to the dance.
“I wish I could go. My aunt would never let me go, and
even if she said yes, I don’t have a dress,” Cindy told
Callie. Callie cried, “But Cindy, you have to go. Everyone
will be there. You can even borrow one of my sister’s old
dresses.”

A week had passed, and the dance was just an
hour away. As she had predicted,Verra told Cindy she
had to stay home and do the dishes and clean around
the house. Cindy had to get her sisters all prettied up
because they were too lazy to do it themselves. After
Gretchen and Brianna had left, and their mother to
chaperone, Callie came over to give Cindy the dress.
Cindy loved the dress. It was big, ball gown type dress.
Callie did Cindy’s make up all pretty and fancy. She
curled Cindy’s long blond hair. By the end, she looked
like a different person.

Callie had her older brother drive the two friends.
When they arrive at the dance, Kainan walked over to
Cindy and Callie. He asked Cindy, not knowing it was
her, if she wanted to dance with him. Cindy answered,
“Yes.” answered Cindy was really excited. All the girls
stared at Kainan and the mysterious girl. Kainan and
Cindy danced the night away. No one knew it was Cindy,
because she looked so different.
