2nd Grade
This book is dedicated to Samantha who learned that if it's not right to do it, don't do it and If it's not true don't say it.

One afternoon Daniel and his sister Sam came running home to their new puppy Max. They were so excited to meet him because their parents had promised them a dog since last summer.

Daniel and Sam could not resist the excitement so they ran inside the house searching for Max. After searching throughout the house Daniel swung his bedroom door open. To his surprise he saw that Max had done something terrible.

"NO! WHAT HAVE YOU DONE MAX!! These are my favorite sneakers!" Daniel had said angrily. Max had been laying in Daniel's bed chewing away on his favorite sneakers. The sneakers were full of holes from Max's chewing. As Daniel lifted them, drool grossly dripped all over the bed.

Sam could not stop laughing. She thought what Max had done was cute. She ran towards the bed to pick up Max and started talking to him in a baby voice. Daniel was furious, how can a small, cute, brown beagle like Max be capable of doing something like that? "I'm terribly sorry Daniel I didn't mean to chew all over your favorite sneakers I promise it won't happen again", said Max. In that moment Daniel forgot all about the chewed up sneakers. He couldn't believe that Max had spoken.

"You can talk?" ask both Daniel and Sam surprisingly. "Well of course I can talk, I was brought here to be your best friend and watch over the both of you. I didn't know this was your room Daniel I thought it was my play area." "That's okay Max I know you didn't mean it just please stay away from any of my shoes, specially my sneakers."

The following morning Daniel came home from the store with new sneakers. They were white with red flames on the side. He was so excited he went to show them off to his sister and Max.

"Look Sam I got new sneakers." "That's awesome Daniel! Can I borrow them some time?" Sam had asked. "No Sam, no one has permission to borrow my new sneakers. You got that?" Daniel had replied.

As Daniel and Sam kept talking all Max could think of were those nice, soft looking sneakers and how much he really wanted to chew them. But he remembered what Daniel had said, "stay away from any of my shoes, specially my sneakers." He knew he couldn't do that to Daniel, not after the last incident.

Later that afternoon it started to rain. Sam, Daniel and Max were stuck inside. Daniel decided to take a nap and Max was chewing away on his new toy. Seeing that Daniel was asleep Sam decided to try on Daniel's new sneakers. "He's asleep I'll just put them right back before he wakes up" Sam thought. So she went upstairs and straight for Daniels new sneakers.
