Dedicated to Anika Ullah and National Geographic.

Anika Ullah is a world famous knowledgeable nut knower. She specifically studies the areca nut, more commonly known as the betel nut.

She is a scientist, filmmaker, health activist, and a technologist.
Using the different skills she has acquired over the years, she has set her eyes on the betel nut and the cultures surrounding it.

Her interest in the betel nut all started when she ate some paan at a wedding, a sort of candy with betel nut. Soon after eating the paan it had given her some strange side effects, like dizziness.

She started looking online, and found that the betel nut was actually carcinogenic. This is really bad especially since people eat the betel nut all over the world. They could be at risk of oral cancer.

As Anika grew older she learned more about the cultural significance of the betel nut. Specifically, she researched how the betel caused oral cancer.

She learned about how the way paan was prepared and how it could affect the degree to which people eating it would get oral cancer.
She conducted research about how many people ate the betel nuts, the different ways they consumed them, the different species of the betel nut, and how cancerous the different species were.

In her research, Anika also found that the highest populations with oral cancer caused by the betel nut were in Taiwan.
Because of her passion to pursue studying this subject, she decided to move to Taiwan.

In Taiwan, she lives with the Amis tribe. Within the tribe they have a unique culture where they mix modern and more traditional life styles.
Anika decided to take a plane to get to Taiwan of course, because the country is so far away from her home. The night before she was set to leave, Anika had a dream about the tribe in Taiwan.

In Anika's dream, she had just arrived in the Amis tribe, where she would work with the tribe to help lower oral cancer rates from the betel nut.
In her dream, the tribe members and elders did not like her idea and wanted to keep their culture the way it was.
