One time Natasha had taken a road trip through the U.S.A.. Outside her car window she saw farms, rivers, churches, tepees, horses, trains, other cities, and the railroad tracks. She wondered how this all came to be...

So her mother explained to her the history of her country.

They drove through Kansas and saw lots of farms. A long time ago people moved to the Great Plains and began to grow food. They built farms and sold their produce for profit. This business was highly profitable and is now a $200 billion industry.

They drove through California and saw huge rivers. One time gold was found at Sutter's Mill in Northern California, word quickly spread and thousands came in search for gold. They dug in the mines and panned the rivers for gold.

They got to Utah and drove through a large city. Mormons moved west in order to safely practice their religion. They resided in Salt Lake City. They built schools, churches and houses until it was great big city. It became Utah's capital, where we are now.

As they crossed the Great Plains her mother explained to her how the natives once inhabited Georgia until they were forcefully removed. While they moved to the the Great Plains many people fell ill and died. This became known as the trail of tears. Her mother took advantage of this moment to remind her of how important it is to embrace and respect others' culture.
