Once upon a time, there was a girl, named Linda, who had been taking french
for a decade. One day, her mom said to her,
"Linda, tomorrow, since you have taking french for a long time, we've decided to
take you on a short trip to france. We are only going to have time to tour the
grounds surrounding the Eiffel Tower and go up and eat lunch."
Once her mother had said this, Linda was leaping with joy. She would get to eat
IN the Eiffel Tower, oh how her friends would be jealous. She went to her room
to pack her somewhat undelightfully light bag, but still, the EIFFEL TOWER!
At 6:00AM the next morning, Linda woke, ate a quick breakfast, packed her
luggage, and within 20 minutes, the family had set off for BWI airport. The
airport staff weighed their bags and sent them down the conveyor belt. Once
through the crowdiness of customs, they went to the correct terminal and sat
down for what was to be the longest wait Linda thought she had ever
experienced in her entire life.

Minutes passed slowly while she waited, and she was on the verge of asking her
parents if they could go home when a female voice, soft and calm, issued from the
speaker above.
"Flight 451 to Paris now boarding, I repeat, Flight 451 to Paris now boarding. Please
get your tickets out and follow the directions the flight attendant gives you. I
repeat, Flight 451 to Paris now boarding."
And with that, all the people who were seating around them, businessmen, foreign
ministers, newly weds, married couples going on trips for their anniversary, and
many, many more rose as one and formed a queue in front of the Flight Attendant.
"This is our flight", said Linda's mother "Let's get on so we don't miss it!'
"Mommy" said Linda "What is it like, being on a plane?"
Linda, who had never been on a plane before, was afraid to get on.
Her mother, realizing the seriousness of the question, said "You'll be fine, just stick
close to us"

In groups, the passengers started to get on the plane. Once Linda and her parents
gave their tickets for the flight to the flight attendant waiting outside the corridor
that led to the plane, they made their way to their seats to sit out another long wait.
The pilot gave the passengers the usual report, and the flight attendant gave her
usual safety speech, and within half an hour, they were in the air. For Linda, it was
another agonizing wait. Since she had nothing to occupy her time (not even a book)
she just stared out of the window. After a while, she got sick of seeing the same
blue ocean all the time, with only the occasional sight of a cargo ship far below. But,
because she had woken up so early, sleep overtook the ever-expanding world of her
thoughts.
A few hours later, a sudden jolt woke her. Complaining, she sat up and rubbed the
sleep out of her eyes. She turned and asked her mom what was going on. She
gestured toward the window and said
"See for yourself".
Linda looked out the window and gasped in awe. She saw downtown Paris for the
first time.

Below her, a vast expanse stretching as far as she could see, was covered with
streets, houses, and shops, all packed together very tightly. She was looking at the
late afternoon bustling commute of the french workers going home after a hard days
work. In the distance, Linda could see the massive frame of the Eiffel Tower,
unmistakable as it towered over downtown Paris. Within 20 minutes, Linda and her
parents had touched down and escaped the cramped plane. Once they entered the
main terminal, they were overwhelmed with the smells of the french airport. They
could smell perfume and colon from the beauty shop across from them. To their right,
they could smell hot coffee and pastries from the coffee shop. As they exited the
airport, local vendors tried to sell them flowers, necklaces, fresh baked bed, and
many more things. Once out of the bustling airport, Linda's father hailed a cab and
told the driver to go to the "Hotel D'Eiffel", and they set off. Once to the hotel they
unpacked and got ready for bed. Once in bed, Linda's mom asked her
"Excited for tomorrow, Linda?"
"Yep" Linda said simply, and turned over and immediately fell asleep.
The next morning, Linda and her parents got to the Eiffel Tower precisely at 9AM.
