This is Yota. He is 10 years old.

Yota wanted to explore the forest and learn all about a funny phrase he heard.

Yota wished to know what "my toe sis" meant. He walked through the forest until he encountered one of his older friends. Yota's friend was named Naruto.

"Hi Naruto!" Yota yelled.

"Oh! Yota! Hello! You surprised me! How can I help you?" Naruto replied.

"I heard a funny phrase Naruto! I heard my sister say "my toe sis" to someone on the phone earlier. When I asked her about it she told me that she was talking about science and the cell cycle. She told me that she would explain it to me later, but she is still out and about. Can you help me understand?" Yota asked.

"Well, I believe so Yota, but you are mixing up the terms! Your sister said "Mitosis," it is a science process similar to "Meiosis" and they are apart of the cell cycle.

Yota clapped and cheered! He was eager to learn about the cell cycle, mitosis and meiosis. As Naruto and Yota set off, Naruto began to explain the terms he said to his younger friend.

"Meiosis is one of the ways that cells divide and then multiply or add more in order to make new cells. It's different from mitosis because mitosis doesn't have a process called "crossing-over" and that is when the genes (DNA) is exchanged or shared in part one of meiosis. Part two of meiosis is when the DNA that was already present is split to make functioning cells. and then new organisms (cells) are created. "

Wow! Yota thought. Naruto had given him a lot of information on Meiosis.

"Okay, since I have learned about meiosis, what is mitosis Naruto?" He asked.

Yota smiled as Naruto explained how the cell cycle was an event that happened so that the DNA (material that all humans have) could be copied or shared with daughter cells.

Mitosis was a bit more complex to explain, but Naruto decided to give him the basics of the terms and expand upon their meaning with their friends.

"Mitosis and meiosis are both used for reproduction. reproduction means to create something new. Meiosis is sexual reproduction and mitosis is asexual reproduction." Naruto said.

"The five stages of Mitosis are; Interphase, Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, and Telophase or Cytokenisis."

Naruto and Yota continued to travel through the forest discussing what they learned, when off in the distance they spotted Naruto's friends.

Ino smiled as she watched Yota and Naruto come closer. After Naruto explained everything to them about Yot's inquiry she decided to make their trip into a science adventure! The group set out to travel father and learn more about mitosis and meiosis and the cell cycle.
