It was cold. It was very cold. A thermometer would be unable to measure the temperature. Nathan wished that he brought something more than a mere sweater.

Since last week, he had started to believe the tales that his Grandma Nora had been telling him. When Nathan was six, he asked her why it was so cold. She had told him a tale about a select few gods having a territory war that ended with Boreas, the god of the north wind and winter, claiming the land that we live on. Nathan tried to remember how it went...

Boreas was very annoyed. He wasn’t comfortable in his tiny kingdom up north. He wanted more land. He found multiple solutions to this problem. He could freeze some of the water around his kingdom, making it bigger. He could build his kingdom taller or expand underground.

Boreas chose the former, and started to freeze the water around his territory, making it grow. However, Poseidon was not okay with this as the water was his territory, so he thawed the ice that was invading his territory. For an entire year, Poseidon and Boreas went back and forth in a strange battle that spanned many miles and confused the mortals local to those areas.
