Dedicated to Dr. Ratkos for teaching me everything I know about Applied Behavior Analysis.
Disclaimer: This story is fictional, but the contingencies are real. I do not consider myself to be better than anyone I live with and was worried it may come across that way. The use of Cinderella in this story comes from a desire to make my contingencies more entertaining to listen to.

Once upon a time, in a far away land, education was valued by all and was in high demand.
In this land, there was one lovely school for princesses where the girls lived and played, but one big problem left them feeling dismayed.

Everyone had heard about the kitchen's disgusting state, which seemed to be an unchangeable part of the Princesses' fate.
They would leave their dirty dishes lying around, and when asked whose they were no answer was to be found.
Pretty soon the dishes piled high, and no one knew how to clean it, no one even wanted to try.

They needed a hero, and they needed one fast! Lucky for them, one came from the ABA class.
Cinderella herself was taking the course, with the magnificent fairy godfather Ratkos as her source.
He taught her and taught her all that she knew, until she could do a contingency or maybe a few.
She started by developing contingencies behind the problem behavior, a first step in becoming a kind of savior.
She found two potential reasons for the dirty dish ditching:
One was avoidance from having to do chores,
The other escape from potential roommate wars.

Because of her reinforcement and punishment history, the easiest way to clean dishes was no mystery.
Cinderella broke down the behavior into easier parts. She would change their behavior, she would change their hearts.
She wanted them to see that cleaning up after themselves was a way to love others like you and me.
