Thanks to Mr. Thorpe for having us write this book.

“Will lets go!” Mom yelled up the stairs.
“I’m coming Mom.” Will yelled back.
Easton the family's dog was sure ready to go.
“Mom why do we have to do this” Will says to Mom
“Because it will be fun” Dad replies.
“I bet it will be.” Will thinks to himself.
“Do you have everything” Mom says.
“Yep.” Will replies without any enthusiasm.
“Okay then let's hit the road.”Mom says excitedly.
"Yep." Will replies.
This is Easton's first ever road trip. Easton is the family dog.
Easton gets up on the seat and Dad yells “Easton get off the seat, this is a new car!”
After about 30 minutes into the drive Will asked “Can we stop and go to the bathroom?”
“Dad can we stop at the next gas station?” Will asked.
“You are lucky that I forgot to fill up the car with gas last night.” Dad says.
“Why am I lucky?” Will asked
“Because when I was a kid we only stopped if we needed gas or if everyone had to go to the bathroom.” Dad said.

They pull over at a rest stop and top off on gas. Easton has never been out of the yard before so when he got out of the car he started to run around and smell everything. He had seen one other dog before but it was just a small old dog that did not want to play or anything but sleep or eat. And there were other dogs at the rest stop so the family let him interact with the other dogs for a few minutes.
“Everyone back in the car!” Dad said.
Once everyone was back in the car Will asked "So where are we going exactly?"
“I went here as a kid and I loved it!” Dad said excitedly.
“Still that does not sum up where we are going.” Will replied with boredom.
“Alright we are going to the Black Hills!” Dad said with a lot of enthusiasm.

“You’re kidding right.” Will said with disappointment.
“So the first week of the summer we have to do this.” Will added on without be happy at all.
“Yep and it will be great.” Mom replied with as much enthusiasm as Dad.
Will had been on his phone the whole time and his phone was almost out of battery. So he plugged it in. It charged for a little while but then suddenly his phone stopped charging and his battery drained really quickly. And in about 30 seconds his phone went from 34% to 0%. He kept trying to get his phone to charge and it just was not working. I wonder if it’s because it is a new car. Will thought to himself.

“Hey Will can I use your charger?” Mom asked Will.
“But the charger and maybe it is the car not the charger.” Will replied.
“Well here let me try, just give it to me.” Mom said.
“Fine but it’s not going to work.” Will replied while rolling his eyes.
So Mom plugged it in and it worked just fine. Then Dad did the same and it was working for everyone except Will. The odd part of all of this is the charger stopped working almost right when they entered into South Dakota. They drove for a few more hours and then they got to their hotel in Rapid City, SD.
