Church is important to Cedar. She is a very religious person.

The doctors in this book were impersonal. They often acted cold towards Cedar.

Cedar and Tia spent a long time planning and preparing for their escape. It was very difficult for them to do everything they needed to do in time.

The fatality rate of pregnant women was very high because many of them died during labor. The same goes for the babies.

God is very prevalent in the story. Cedar is found often praying to him when she was scared.

In this story, hospitals are repurposed for pregnant people only. They aren't really used to aid other people medically.

The government was very desperate to get pregnant women to be "womb donors." So when women are caught doing any crime, they are forced to be a womb donor.

Cedar stays sane by writing in her journal. She writes her entries addressed to her unborn baby.

Knowledge is a very scarce thing in this book. Especially for Cedar. It is very hard for her to pry information out of the nurses.

For all of the hate and fear in this book, there is just as much of love t combat it. Cedar shows love for her baby, her family, both biological and adoptive, and for Phil as well.

There's a lot of risk with being pregnant, but being a mother, is just as risky. It is so hard for you to be a mother in this book because of all of the challenges they face.

is for Nurses

In this story, there are many nurses. Some are helpful towards Cedar and aid her in her escape.

Cedar has a special baby. They call them originals because they are normal. It means that the baby is normal like babies originally used to be before the world started going crazy.

is for Pregnancy

Pregnancy is pretty much the center of this entire book. Everything that happens, happens because of something related to someone being pregnant.
