Our story begins with Luigi, brother of Mario. Today Luigi felt like going outside to explore the many kingdoms to view the beautiful flowers and trees.

Luigi's journey begins with him checking out the "Secret Flower Fields" in the Wooded Kingdom as the flowers take in the sunlight, take in the carbon dioxide, and take in a bunch of water from the soil.

The process the plants are performing is called photosynthesis which helps the carbon cycle overall.

Photosynthesis is an easy way that is used by plants to change the light energy from the sun and convert it into glucose(sugar) that can later be released to help the plant during cellular respiration.

Glucose is stored in the plants leaves since it's sugar, which is created from carbon dioxide, water, and light energy. At the end of this process, the plant makes oxygen and glucose.

After Photosynthesis, the cells in the plants will perform cellular respiration. This process takes in food and uses it to create energy for all living things.

Think of cellular respiration as the opposite of photosynthesis, photosynthesis provides the sugar and oxygen for cellular respiration then has all living things breathe out carbon dioxide to help out photosynthesis.

Luigi is at Moo Moo Meadows, peacefully watching a cow eat some grass, which means oxygen from the grass will transfer onto the cow when it takes a breath.

Luigi sadly watches a wolf walk off after eating the poor cow. After the wolf ate the cow, the wolf has taken in the energy from the cow's meat, because the cow was eating grass shortly before it died.

Shortly after Luigi left Moo Moo Meadows, the wolf from earlier was very injured after getting in a fight with another wolf.

The poor wolf starts to decompose into fossil fuels such as coal and oil for factories to use. All the carbon dioxide from the factories is released into the atmosphere.
