This story is dedicated to my baby brother, who has always filled me with joy, even in the darkest storms.

I was in my rusty yet peaceful home that resided in a barren wasteland several miles away from an icy forest which was surrounded by several giant mountains. I was happily reading a survival guide I had found within a mansion that looked like it was abandoned for years. After I finished reading, I thought about how long it's been. The year was 3010, and the majority of the earth had been barren ever since the government had tried to get a useful energy source by fusing all 92 elements together. Instead, the result was a massive explosion, killing the majority of humanity.
After the event, I had met a young scientist named Mary who I eventually married. We were able to construct a home for ourselves, find food, and raise our kids, and everything was going smoothly until one day my wife came running towards me in shock and fear, I was curious to find out what had happened.
"What's the matter?" I asked, concerned.
"I had recently sent a drone to search for human life" she said nervously, "when I found..."
..."your brother. And his family."
I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I had believed for a long time that my brother was dead ever since the experiment had happened. I had to save him. "Keep an eye on the kids", I said sternly. "I'll be back in a few days." "Were are you going?" she asked nervously. "I'm going to the location of my brother...
...to save him."
The first thing I did was to get some equipment for the conditions I would face. According to the forecast, there was a snowstorm heading towards the forest. My home could handle it, but according to the computer, my brother was not in a shelter of any kind, so I had to act as fast as possible. After preparing for the rough weather, I entered an ATAT (all -terrain-armored-transport). Then I powered it on and began to set off.
Before I left, I realized that my wife was watching me as I left the area. She appeared to be very upset and concerned. But there was nothing I could do. I had powered on the ATAT, and began to set off.
The land around me was barren. There was nothing but piles of junk everywhere within a desert. However, my transport was very large, so I was able to get through very quickly. Soon, I had entered the woods where my brother was trapped in.
