WETLAND OF VRAVRONA
journalist : Theodora & Myrto
The wetland of Vravrona is one of the most important wildlife refuges in Attica. At a distance of only 30 kilometers from Athens, we can admire a wonderful landscape with a rich history that has remained almost the same from antiquity until today.
More than 170 species of birds have been observed in the wetland of Vravrona, while the area is rich in birds, reptiles, amphibians and small mammals. The area is important for the bird fauna, at the top of which is the koufaidoni that breeds in the nearby fields and the beautiful ivy. Birds of prey have been observed: snakes,
eagles, peregrine falcons, reed warblers, winter eagles, rare steppe eagles and old eagles, hawks and rock hawks. Herons include small egrets, silver egrets, white egrets, gray egrets, cryptocurrencies, purple egrets, night crows and coppice.
In the beginning of spring, the coastal wetland of Vravrona acquires a beautiful pink color from the tamarisk trees that cover most of it. The rest of the vegetation consists of reedbeds, reeds and honeysuckle.

Knossos
The archeological site of Knossos is located in Crete, just 5 km southeast of the city of Heraklion. It was built by Cretan builders in 2,000 BC. It was originally destroyed by the earthquake of 1,900 BC. but was immediately rebuilt and destroyed again by the earthquake of 1,700 BC. The Palace of Knossos became the ritual and political center of Minoan civilization and civilization.
The Palace was imposing and quite large. It is built with complex architecture and in its design, straight corridors were avoided, thus justifying the Cretan myth of the Labyrinth. It is built on an artificial hill, next to the river Kairato, in a huge area of 22,000 km2.
The materials used for its construction are considered quite luxurious for its time. The palace is multi-storey (up to 5 floors) and had about 1,500 different rooms.
It had a water management system, a drainage system, a ventilation system, as well as a skylight system, which allowed natural light in its rooms. Some rooms were used as storage (for oil, wine, cereals, etc.), while there were also treasury rooms, religious rooms and, most importantly, the Throne. In all the rooms there were very impressive murals, the colors of which are "alive" to this day.
Today the Palace is a historical monument visited by people from all over the world to admire it and learn about the great Minoan Civilization.
Personally, I feel admiration for the Minoan Palace, as it was very difficult to build something like this in antiquity, but I also feel proud, as those who managed to do it were Greeks!

ATHENS INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT
Athens International Airport is strategically located at the crossroads of three continents: Europe,Asia and Africa. It was named Eleftherios Venizelos in honor of the Greek political Eleftherios Venizelos. It was officially opened in March 2001, after five years of construction. According to the global airport rankings has been rated third in the world for over all passenger experience. It replaced the old Ellinikon International Airport.
AIA is located between the towns of Markopoulo, Koropi, Spata and Artemida which is also the town I live. Situated 27 km from the center of Athens, it takes 45 minutes to over an hour to reach the city, depending on your mode of transportation and the traffic situation.
You have plenty of options: by metro, by express bus, by regular taxi, and by Welcome Pickups taxi.
. The airport currently has two terminals, the main terminal and the satellite terminal accessible by an underground link from the main terminal. It is designed to be extended in a modular approach over the ensuing years in order to accommodate increases in air travel.
I have visited it many times to travel or sometimes to pick up my dad. I enjoy it every time because as a traveler you have so many options to spend your time as you wait for your flight such as coffee-shops, restaurants, bookstores and so many others. If you travel with small children there is a playground where they can have fun. I feel very proud that this airport is in my country and especially so close to my home because is one of the best in the world. Tasos
Agios Nikolaos
It is located half a nautical mile from the coast of the current settlement of Agios Nikolaos of Artemis, in the prefecture of Attica and its area is 12 acres. It is the largest of the two rocky islets with the name "Kokkinonisia", which refer to NW. in the Government Gazette of 1847, as subordinated then together with other islands and areas in the Municipality of Kropia. Today it belongs to the Municipality of Spata - Artemis.
The chapel of Agios Nikolaos was built by Spataneos Spyridonas Koulocheris around 1882, on the ruins of an older church and according to tradition they transported the stones for the building from the area "Mesovarda" of Artemis by cart. It was renovated in 1920 by Konstantinos Georgas (son-in-law of the first owner), because it had been damaged due to its proximity to the liquid element, whose family later donated it to the monastery of Saint Ephraim.
Agios Ioannis
Agios Ioannis is a very beautiful church located at the top of a hill overlooking the beach
of Artemis and Vravrona
on one side and the plain of Spata on the other.
Although it has a small interior, people can be accommodated in its huge paved courtyard.
It is also an excellent choice for all events, such as weddings, baptisms, etc.
Passava castle
Passava castle is located in Greece, in Mani. It was built in 1254 on the ruins of the Acropolis. It was built by the French knight and leader of Morea, Ioannis de Neigy. It was so named after the French war scream Passe-Avant (Go Forward).
The castle does not look very good due to the dense vegetation.
It was a large military castle.
Externally it had two gates, one east and one south where the main one was. In the northern part (higher), there were the original Frankish buildings, towers and hostels and in the south camp facilities.
Inside the castle there were many rooms.
Today it’s not used as something.
Use it a bit as an attraction, although it does not look very good.
Many tourists come to see it.

TRANSPORTATION WITH BICYCLES
Bicycles are not a simple means of transportation for people but they can offer fun and exercise. At some point they can become part of our daily lives. Riding a bicycle has its positives and negatives.
Bicycles are easy to ride and you do not need to have a driver's license. Even small children could ride on the road alone by bicycle. They are also environmentally friendly and do not emit pollutants. In addition, they offer entertainment and physical exercise. A bicycle it does not cost a lot of money so we will not spend a large amount of money to buy it. It does not work with gasoline but with the energy of our body.
But it also has some disadvantages. Let's see what they are. In long distances it is difficult to reach our destination. But more importantly, in the country we live the roads are quite bad and there are no bike paths. In other European countries I have visited I really admire that they respect cycling, they have bike lanes and special traffic lights for them. Another disadvantage is that there are many careless drivers who can fall on you at some point. So we must be careful and to wear a helmet.
One day I hope the transportation with bicycles will come true and the disadvantages will be rectified. Tasos
“Meteora”
In the 11th century the first hermits climbed the imposing rock.
Until the 14th century, Agios Athanasios came and built the first organized monastic community on the Rock of the Great Meteor. They built 24 monasteries spread over all the rocks for 600 years.
When I see Meteora I think it is in the world of God. Meteora has fog all around and it is as if it is built on the sky and it looks very impressive. Many monasteries of great historical importance are built on the rock. They were made of stones and wood.
Today, thousands of visitors from all over the world come here every day to admire this incredible spectacle, but some came here to pray, meditate, get to know the life of the monks and admire its incredible artistic art. of nature.
I see these monasteries and I am overwhelmed by the question: how did nature build Meteora and people built the monasteries?
The monasteries that are there are like the houses of the gods in the fog.

DISTANSE LEARNING OR LIFE EDUCATION
Lately, with the coronavirus, we entered a quarantine and the schools were closed. That is why the government decided the lessons must be done through distance learning. For some children this situation is positive and for others it is negative.
The positives of e-learning are that: Everyone sees the board clearly and there is nothing to stop them. But the best thing is that we do not wear a mask and breathe fresh air. The negatives now are: We do not see our friends up close and human contacts are lost. Some lessons are done differently and we do not do activities. Some children do not have good wi-fi or computer, mobile and tablet to participate. But there are some children who have closed camera and microphone and play or leave during the lesson.
Sitting at the computer for so many hours is not good for our eyes but also for our health and we can get serious health problems. In no case can it replace the lifelong learning.
Now life education has its positives and negatives as well. The positives are: When we go out we are with our friends and we have a good time. We run, have fun and exercise in the gym. The negatives are: We wear a mask for a long time and some may they have breathing problems. But there must be mask breaks to get a dose of fresh air.
I hope that everything we live now ends and we get back to our old everyday life. It does not matter in the end how the education is done but what we learn from it and that is why all its forms offer only good .

PIANO
My favorite instrument is the piano. I like the piano very much and my dad told me: <If you get good grades in all 3 quarters I will get you a piano> I was excited and after the summer came and my dad got the piano. I was so happy that I was playing, that is, I was trying to play every day.
My piano is a piano with a tail. It is relatively medium and its color is brown. It is made of wood. This instrument consists of a speaker, a support body, a frame, the strings, the keyboard, the pedals and the basic mechanism. Its strings are in a horizontal arrangement with respect to the ground, they are 88 and the 52 white ones are made of steel and covered with ivory and the 36 black ones are covered with ebony. There are over 200 strings on a piano which are stretched inside an iron frame. The string pressure can reach 30 tons.
The piano works as follows: Initially each high note uses 3 strings while each low 2 strings the even lower notes can use even 1 string. This is because higher notes have thinner strings, which produce a weaker sound. Also the pianos have 2 or 3 pedals which are also called pedals, they work with the pressure of the feet and have different functions.
They are connected to the rest of the mechanism with a series of
levers, nails and springs. The right pedal helps to increase or decrease
the volume. The left pedal softens the sound by moving the
percussion mechanism and forcing the hammers to strike 2 of 3
strings. Finally the middle pedal called sostenuto or socrates and
helps hold a note.
The piano is generally an instrument used in many orchestras.
He helped me with a school show that took place last year. I had to
play 2 songs on the piano. I played the songs with great success and
the celebration ended with one last song on the piano.
I like this musical instrument very much. I feel excitement and love
that I acquired.

Ukulele
There are many beautiful and wonderful melodic
musical instruments. Musical instruments are divided into three categories. The strings, which have strings, the percussions, which we hit and the winds that we blow.
I have learned to play some songs on guitar, harmonica and flute, but the instrument I will describe is none of them. I will describe is the ukulele.
The ukulele is a stringed musical instrument. It is like a small guitar but it has four strings. The ukulele comes from Hawaii and is called "Ukulele", meaning a small guitar. Ukulele can be wooden or glossy. some of them have pens. They have metal keys for tuning. There are no notes on the stave, only chords.
My ukulele was a gift from my parents at Christmas. It is brown, wooden, with rafts and the metal keys on the back end in shape of dolphins. I learned to play the Italian song "Bella ciao", the English song "Happy birthday" and the Greek song "In your deep blue water" in which I am still practicing.
This instrument is played alone or with other ukuleles. Cannot be played with other musical instruments in concert. Hawaiian people use it on holidays, when they gather around the sea or on birthdays and at the end of a race.

GU ZHENG
My favorite music instrument is the gu zheng. I loved the gu zheng since I was young, and one day my parents brought my dream alive! That day I went with my parents and my sister to the shops to buy music instruments. I got a gu zheng while my sister got a guitar. I was overwhelmed by happiness and excitement. ment in ChinaThe gu zheng is a traditional music instrument. It is made of wood and the length is about 136 cm. There are 21 strings
supported by 21 small wooden stacks, these also help to change the sounds they produce. The widths of the strings are different depending on their sounds. A thick string provides a deeper sound, vice versa. It also has a vacuum on the left side which can be used to put things in it, however its most important function is that there contains knobs which are used to adjust the intonation. The gu zheng is a very ancient music instruinstrument in China. The first time it appeared in China is in the 5th century BC and til now it’s in presence for more than 2500 years.
When we want to play the gu zheng we must wear special nails that are designed for playing gu zheng. We would tie those nails to our fingers with cellophane tapes, as the strings are very hard even in ancient times when they did not have such nails, they would put cellophane tape on in order to protect their fingers. When we tease the strings stunning melodies come out.The process of studing how to play gu zheng is very difficult and complicated, so when I was in China I also went to a music instrument tutorial.
The teacher taught us different songs and gave us various exercises for home which had to be recorded into videos and sent to her. I often do practices alone at home, but since I came to Greece I could not find a tutorial for gu zheng and that was why I stopped learning it. I am glad that I have gu zheng and I learn it. I’m also excited for and love this first music instrument in my life!
