I'm the only thing that can make the earth alive after its death. With rainwater,many varieties of plants grow ,and valleys,meadows and gardens turn green.

Trees dress up again in their best leaves and flowers, and they give luscious sweet fruit.

Man has cherished and nurtured me since the dawn of time. For instance, in Tunisia, where I grow up,I was carried from Zaghouan to Carthage along aqueducts built by the Romans in the year 130AD . Their ruins can still be seen today

Hundreds of years later, The people of the Aghlabide took care of me.They built water reservoirs: They made small water basins to filter out sand deposits and broken debris.After that, they had the cleaner water flow into a large basis for storage.

They needed water for drinking,irrigating their farms,and their ablutions before prayers.

Nowadays, if truth be told,I have been left exposed to danger!

A lot of things test my patience and threaten my very existence !

The first hardship I have to face is from people using too much water.They never stop asking for more water for irrigation,cleaning and even for car washes , even though Islam forbids , squandering and consuming too much in all things .

The other problem that causes me a lot of distress is pollution,of course.

Rivers and small steams have become garbage dumps.

People throw trash in them and sewer water pipes pour out their poisons there.

Some people even throw bodies of dead animals in these steams .

If you look more closely at the poor sea,too, you'll see the amount of pollutants .

left behind by ships and oil tankers.

Or just have a short walk in the beach and you'll see heaps of trash that people on holiday have left behind.

Perhaps the greatest challenge and misfortune of all in the decrease in the amount of fresh water.

A lot of people around the word find it difficult to get enough clean drinking water.This forces them to drink contaminated water, exposing thousands of people ,especially children, to the risk of diarrhea and even death .
