Chapter 1: The dawn of the hero to be
A long, long time ago deep in the depths of the great Cherkasy woods of Ukraine there lived
a mother and a son. They lived in a small, Tudor shack with a well. Everyday of their life was filled
with hard labor and taking care of their land. But there were always songs, fairy tales and stories
they made up for each other to keep themselves entertained. One day Igor decided to set out and leave to make a better living for his family, so his mother would not have to work as hard on the farm fields.

“Mom, I am a grown up man now, and it is time for me to go into the real world and make a proper living for us,” Igor said proudly.
“I am so worried about you, my son. Last time I heard these words were from your father, who left home on the night of Ivana Kupala to look for the Seven Souls and never came back.” she said sadly.
“But you are not getting any younger. It is getting harder for us to survive, and I am not even interested in that stupid story about Seven Souls, as I don’t even believe they exist.,'' Igor said with impatience.
The mother went to cry in her room, as she realized her son was determined to do as he wished. His whole childhood she told Igor stories about the Seven Souls and how powerful they were. It took some time but Igor’s mother understood and let him go eventually. Igor knew it was going to be a long journey, through the long tangled forests, to the long tick infested plains, and through the frostbitten mountains.
Chapter 2:The journey ahead
Igor was walking through the plains after getting bitten by a dozen ticks and mosquitoes. His mom packed him some pierogi and vareniki with fresh sour cream from the milk from their own cow, named Belochka. Igor was on his last pierog until he saw something shuffle through the grass. A cute fox popped out. It had its razor sharp teeth hogging a goldish gem. It gave off a bright glow, brighter than anything he'd ever seen before. The fox dropped the gemstone and sprung back into the tall grass.

Igor took off running faster than he ever did until he tripped over a log and started rolling down the hill banging into rocks and logs, all he could hear was the leaves crunching under him until he hit a rock and dozed off. He woke up in an old shack with packed earth floor. First thing he saw was a beautiful young girl standing by a fireplace with two people sitting by it.
“You're finally awake,'' the women said.
“Gosh, where am I ?”, Igor thought to himself,“and who are these people?”
For two days as Igor stayed unconscious, Zoya was taking care of him. She was a nurse and without her help might have died.
Her parents Tolik and Ida were not very happy to have a stranger in their house, but decided to help out the young man. After his recovery, Igor told Zoya a story about a fox with a gem and a mean guy named Alexander. Zoya explained to Igor that Alexander was a notorious rascal in the area, and he was always up to no good. The only person who could clarify the gem secret was an old Uncle Orest who lived far away on the mountain Hoverla.
