Acting
Acting is a career in which you perform on stage to entertain an audience whether it is in a play in front of a live audience or in a movie to be watched in many homes across the planet. There is lots of skill needed to become an actor. In order to become an actor, you must be creative. You have to emphasize your characters feelings, emotion, and personality.

Actors also have to have good memorization, reading, and speaking skills. They have to memorize lots of lines and be able to interpret the type of character an author has developed. They must be able to speak loud and clearly, especially during live performances. Physical stamina is also a good acting quality. A lot of times, actors have to perform under hot lights, heavy costumes, and lots of makeup. Acting requires no college degree but experience would be
extremely useful. The median pay for an actor is $17.54 an hour.
Gene Kelly
Gene Kelly was born on August 23rd, 1912 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He was an actor, dancer, and choreographer. His athletic dancing combined with traditional ballet did a lot to change America's public conception of male dancers. He majored in journalism but performing stole him and he became an actor, performer, and dancing. His mother had originally wanted him to go into the performing career like herself.

Gene Kelly and his athletic dancing style did very well in musicals. Some movies he was in were as followed:

- -Singin' in the rain (1952)
- -An American in Paris (1951)
COstume Designing
A costume designer is somebody who designs all of the costumes for actors and actresses. The designs consist of light colored sketches that represent what the performers will be wearing. Most costume designers have a bachelors degree in fashion designing, Demostrating style, skill, and technique through a design portfolio is essential. Costume designing requires many skills and abilities. Several of these skills include computer, decision-making, and communication.

Lots of these skills are essential while working in a team or group. They must have artistic ability and must be detail-oriented. Creativity is also a crucial part of designing. The average salary for a costume designer is $34.96, $72,720 a year.

Set Designing
A set designer is someone who designs all the sets and backgrounds for a film. Set designers often work with make-up, costume, and other designers. They also work with the directors of the movie/play. They will read scripts over and over to get the feel of the style and understand the tone of the performance. Employers would rather hire someone with a degree in the any kind of arts, architecture, or design. While in college to achieve a degree, students will have lots of
training whether it is participating in an internship or working in the school theater. The average pay for a set design is $25 an hour, $53,370 a year. Set designers have to have great artistic ability and creativity. They need to be detail-oriented and need to have good visualization skills. Interpersonal and problem-solving skills are needed as well.

Directing
A director produces television shows, plays/live theater, commercial, movies, and many more performing art production. They will take writer's scripts and interpret them to have them performed to entertain an audience. Lots of directors have several years of experience as an actor, editor, cinematographer, etc. They typically have a bachelors degree as well. Some even go to school for Masters degree in fine arts. A directer will gain good reputation that will allow them to possibly work on larger more expensive projects that will attract more attention and publicity. There are several skills required to become a director. You have to be creative, and have good communication skills. Leadership skills and time-management skills also play an important role in directing.
The median pay for a director is $34.46 an hour, $71,680 a year.
