This book is dedicated to my sister Lia, because she loves nature as much as I do.

Air
There's lots of high humidity in the Amazon's air. Another thing in the air is carbon dioxide,a gas that is dangerous in large amounts.
Trees take the carbon dioxide out of the air. Some parts of the Amazon are burned to crisps to create farms. When farmers do this in excess, the Amazon is in danger! And that creates the air being filled with smoke, which makes tribes and other people not being able to breath very well.

Deforestation
Water
Water comes from rain and plant transpiration. It is used to make energy, water plants, and for animals to drink.
The Amazon River is a big river. Its length is 4,000 miles. Although the Nile is longer, the Amazon River carries more water.

Wind
The Amazon's wind is called Monsoon. Monsoon reverses direction on a seasonal basis. Amazon tribes want to prove that hydro power is not the only source of energy they can use. For example, the Makuxi tribe are trying hard to convince the Brazilian goverment to use wind for energy, too!
