It was a lovely sunny morning, Harriet drew back her curtains and looked out of the window at the street below.
Harriet had recently moved into the apartment with her mother, she was feeling nervous as today was her first day at her new school.
"Harriet, you're going to be late, you don't want to make a bad impression on your first day!" her mum called from the kitchen.
"I'm ready" Harriet called, trying to hide her nervous feelings.

*nervous*
Harriet got all of her school things together in her bag. She told herself that it was going to be a good day, that everything would be good, she thought that if she said it often enough she would start to believe it. It wasn't working so far though!

Harriet ran along the street hoping that she would remember the way to school. She secretly hoped that she would not meet anyone on the way as she really did not want to talk to anyone, she wanted to be invisible.

"Hi" a voice said at the side of Harriet.
"Oh, hi" said Harriet, secretly hoping that they would keep walking and not carry on talking to her.
"Did you say you wanted to be invisible?" the girl asked.
Harriet felt her tummy somersault, "How did the girl know what she was thinking?" Harriet thought.

Hi!

"My name is Crystal" the girl said. "Lets find a safe place to talk, I won't take too much of your time, you don't want to be late for the first day of school do you?"
"Oh, okay" Harriet said, "How does she know it's my first day at school?" Harriet thought.

They crossed over the road to the playground, where it was safe to talk.
Crystal said, "I have a badge for you, when you wear it you will become invisible, that is what you want isn't it?"
"Y-y-y-yeah, it is!" Harriet replied. "But what's the catch?"
"No catch" Crystal replied.
"There is always a catch, I've seen the movies, you will take over my life, I know it!"

I have a badge for you, when you wear it you will become invisible.
"No, seriously, there is no catch, I just like helping people." Crystal replied, a little hurt by Harriet's distrusting nature.
Harriet took the badge, "Well what have I got to lose?" Harriet thought. "I have no friends, no confidence, will it really be any different to my normal life? I feel invisible most of the time anyway"

no catch.

Harriet took the badge and pinned it to her dress. "Hmmm, nothing has happened" thought Harriet.
Harriet continued her walk to school, checking her watch, strangely she had lost no time.

Harriet arrived at school, but she still felt no different. "I've been conned!" she thought.
As she walked passed the other children no-one turned to look at her or speak to her. Harriet continued walking in to school.
