Camilla Cream loved lima beans, but she never ate them.
All of her friends hated lima beans, and she wanted to fit in. Camilla always worried about what other people thought of her.
Today was the first day of school, and Camilla didn't know what to wear. She tried on many outfits. She tried on a red dress and looked in the mirror... and screamed!
.a

Her Mother ran in to her room and she screamed, too.
"Oh my heavens! You are covered in stripes! Are you sick?" Asked Camilla's Mom.
"I feel fine, but look at me!" Said Camilla.
Camilla did not want to go to school. The other kids would laugh at her.

The doctor came to check Camilla.
"Amazing. I have never seen this before! Do you have a cough, fever, or aches?" Asked the doctor.
"No, I feel fine," said Camilla.
"Well then, you are not sick. You must go to school."

The next day, Camilla went to school. It was a disaster! The kids laughed so much.
Camilla's stripes changed patterns when the kids called her names.

"I want to see a lot of purple polka dots!" Said one boy.
All of a sudden, a lot of polka dots appeared on Camilla's skin.

That night, the school principal called Camilla's parents.
"Hello, Mr. and Mrs. Cream. Camilla needs to stay at home. A few of the students are worried that those stripes may be contagious."
Camilla was sad. Nobody wanted to come near her.

Some doctors came to see Camilla. They did not know why Camilla had so many stripes. They gave her a few pills.

Camilla took the pills before bed. The next morning, she woke up and could not believe what had happened. She had turned into a pill!

More doctors came to look at her.
"Maybe it is a bacteria," said one doctor. When he said this, Camilla grew a lot of little bacteria tails.
"Maybe it is a fungus," said another doctor. Then, Camilla grew a lot of fuzzy fungus spots.

News reporters came to see Camilla. They called her "The Incredible Changing Kid."

Camilla tried many different types of medicine. They made her look even worse.

Another doctor thought she could help. She said to Camilla, "Close your eyes, breathe deeply, and become one with your room."
This was a bad idea. Camilla turned in to her room!

Camilla's parents were very worried. Then, they heard a knock on the door.
"Excuse me, I think I can help," said an old, sweet woman.
The woman walked inside and looked at Camilla.
"Oh my goodness. You have a very bad case of the stripes!" Said the old woman.

"The cure for a bad case of stripes is to eat lima beans," said the old woman. She fed a few lima beans to Camilla.
Camilla did not eat lima beans because she didn't want her friends to laugh at her. But this time, she ate the lima beans because she wanted her stripes to go away.
"YUMMM!" Said Camilla. She secretly loved lima beans.

After she ate the lima beans, the branches, feathers, spots, and stripes disappeared.
Camilla was back to normal!
"I'm cured!" She shouted.

Afterward, Camilla wasn't the same. Some of the kids at school said she was weird, but she didn't care.
She ate all the lima beans she wanted, and she never had a case of the stripes again.
