"Heroes of 20th Century"
Teacher: Emiliana Rufo

Dear Anne,
you haven't done anything bad or wrong.
You must resist, for your family and your friends.
This situation will end. Hitler will stop, until them, you must resist!
Alice - 3E
Dear Anne,
I would like to come and see you but you know well that I can't. I would like to know how you spent your days with your family, how you play and how you enjoy spending all your time at home, what do you usually eat, what are your habits every day, what you learn at school and how you feel with Hitler at your command, knowing that every day you run many risks that could be fatal for you.
I hope to hear news from you soon.
Bye bye,
Silvana - 3G
Dear Anna,
I know it's hard to be there. I imagine how you and your family are going through this bad and so strange period. Hitler and all those Germans should rot in the gas chambers instead of all those poor and innocent Jewish. Stay hidden Anna, sooner or later you will be able to save yourself.
Take care of yourself, Margot and your parents.
I beg you, rest assured even if I know it is difficult but you know that there are thousands of people here who are with you, cheer for your life and all hope that you can finally be free.
Aurora - 3E
Dear Anne,
I'm sorry for what you went through, especially if I think you are about the same age as us and I also wanted to tell you that you are a very good writer.
Your diary has become famous all over the world, we all consider you a great writer.
I think I would never have the courage to publish my diary, it is not nice that your very personal experiences are read by everyone, I would have been very uncomfortable with it.
Thank you.
Raffaella - 3G
Dear Anne,
I think living in your period was not easy but now life goes on, there are no more Nazis in command and almost nobody is persecuted in Europe.
Thanks to your sacrifice we now have a fairer society.
Dario - 3E
Dear Anne,
I read your story with extreme attention.
It fills my heart with infinite sadness.
However, I do not want to lose trust in men. I hope they have learned from your words that such cruelties cannot and must never be part of the human soul.
It seems impossible that all of this really happened.
I will try to live my life with respect for everyone and every idea.
This hoping is my contribution to the request of forgiveness that the whole world must ask you and millions of people who have suffered with you.
Tommaso - 3E
Dear Anne,
After reading your story, I've understood that now we live a moment very similar to yours. Now we have to "hide" from a virus like you from the Nazis. We are living a hard moment.
This virus is similar to a flu and it has infected all the world. For this, a lot of people, also young people, are dying.
Maybe this fact in history, somehow, tends to repeat itself.
In the past people died from the Nazis, now people are dying for an invisible enemy, the virus.
Actually we think to live healthy in a sick world!
Ilaria L. - 3E
Dear Anne,
I’m sorry for what happened to you.
If I could talk to you now, I would tell you I love your diary, I’ve read it many times. You’re an example.
I would have liked to have met you.
Surely you’ve been a fantastic girl.
Today’s guys would not know how to write a diary like yours.
Federica - 3E
Dear Anne,
I think your story should be listened by everyone.
You have not had the possibility to live your life happily, but you will be remembered for what you've been through and for the positivity and courage you have had.
You were a strong girl and you are a point of reference for all of us.
Ilaria D. - 3E
Dear Anne,
I've heard a lot about you, from grandparents' stories, at school and in this particular period you came to my mind. I know you where locked up in a small house with your family for two years to escape from German soldiers. You know Anne, here in this world, Coronavirus has broken out and we are forced to stay closed at home without being able to go to school and see our friends. We are tired, sad and bored but still have plenty of food, we can watch tv, listen to music and play videogames.
I would like to ask you: "how did you manage to live without making a noise so as not to be discovered?", "how did you live with a little food and without being able to play outside?"
Thinking about your situation, I feel lucky because you give me the courage to live everyday. Thanks Anne.
Francesco A. - 3E
Dear Anne,
my name is Sindy.
I'm 13 years old, and despite of being the same age, you show many more, for how you express yourself and for several reasons.
I know what you went through, I can't understand because I didn't see it or I was not going through it, but I tried to immerse myself in your situation and I must say that, when I tried, the anguish and sadness increased.
I can't even imagine myself in such a situation, and I think there is still someone who can't understand what you had suffered.
If those people had been in your place, surely they wouldn't have joked about such a serious topic.
You were a very strong girl at that time and it is no small thing because it was very difficult.
Being strong also means knowing how to be alone, and you, locked up in that house only with your family who did not understand you, were without friends. But you had that diary that was like a friend, that you decided to call Kitty and kept you company at any time of the day.
You told it about your day, your emotions and everything that happened around you, talking like a normal teenager always smiling.
Anne, I hope that by closing your eyes you haven't lost hope in men or rather in that part of humanity that fought against Evil.
I'm lucky to live in a free country, I don't know what the word war actually means, if not just a name read and re-read in History books or images seen on the news.
Today there are still people who discriminate and make differences between people of different ethnic backgrounds.
This racism isn't only used by adults, who should be a good example for us, but also by guys of my age, slightly older and younger.
A real shame.
I'm against racism because all people, although belonging to an ethnic group than ours, must not be discriminated, anyone deserves to have the same rights and duties.
"Therefore, it is diversity that makes us unique".
I think it would be so boring if we were all identical.
In addition to these people, there are those who think that money and power make happiness.
I think you can be happy simply by having people with you who love you for who you are. Money is only material and temporary happiness, after which this happiness vanishes.
If, on the other hand, you have people who care about you and love you for who you are, then you will be happy and this happiness will last forever, but the fear of losing them will arise.
I very much hope that in the future we will all be able to live well and in peace, without discrimination and inequality, but this depends only on ourselves.
Now, dear Anne, I greet you, with the hope that one day, when we'll meet, you'll tell me something about yourself.
Kisses,
Sindy - 3G
P.S. You remember that there will always be obstacles in life, but take courage as you always have and face them.
Don't forget to update your Kitty!
Dear Anne,
I hope that you're fine.
Here the situation isn't easy but I'm trying to do my best to help my family. It's like if all the days are always the same. I know what's happening to you and I'm so sorry, but I also know that you're really strong and that you can do It.
Bye,
Giorgia - 3E
Dear Anne,
I'm Valentina and I decided to write you to let you know how much I loved reading your diary. Through it I understood your feelings while you were writing. Because of your book I began to think differently and I matured.
I think teenagers should read your diary. In this way they will understand how lucky they are and they will stop complaining for everything.
I would love to become a writer someday, I don't know if my dream will become true but I will try my best and I won't give up!
Love,
Valentina - 3G
Dear Anne,
I'm Flaminia and I'm 14 years old. Today I'm writing this letter to tell you THANK YOU for everything you've done.
Fortunately I live in a town where there aren't wars and where there's peace and freedom.
A lot of teenagers are too worried about unnecessary and silly things (including me) and I want to tell you that you are a perfect example of how a person shouldn't give up.
I read your diary and I think that what you have done it's formidable.
In spite of everything you've never lost your reason. You've always been strong. I think that you could be a good friend and I'd like to tell you a lot of things.
Today there are too much stupid people who discriminate others for their color of the skin or their religion but I think this is an advantage and who think this isn't right it's only a fool.
Thanks to you I understand how important life is.
Thank you for writing your story as a witness of your life in your beautiful diary.
Do you know that your book has been read all over the world?!
You should be very proud of you and your family.
Thank you Anne.
Flamy
P.s. You're a fantastic writer.

Hello Anne,
I am Ricardo and I would like to tell you that your death was an injustice because you had not committed any crimes.
I would also like to tell that the diary you wrote before dying today is really famous and teenagers are all reading and studying it.
Ricardo - 3G
Dear Anne,
I would like to write to you.
I am Simone, I wanted to tell you that you are a very courageous girl and the situation you experienced was very bad.
So I wanted to write to you to know how you are and to tell you that a lot of people study about you in school books today.
You have become an example.
Simone - 3G
Dear Anne,
how are you ? You and the Jewish people are having a horrible time and you don't deserve it.
You know, I read your book, I think it is very beautiful but at the same time I understand the suffering you feel.
Hitler is a mad man and must not live.
Vanessa - 3G
Dear Anne,
I am very sorry for what happened to you.
I can't understand the pain you felt but I can imagine it.
If I had been born at least 100 years old, I would have tried to save people like you from a tragedy never seen before.
I imagine your happiness when you were still a child who was unaware of the bad things in the world.
Your memory will always be with us and the strength with which you have lived will always represent an example for us.
Francesca - 3E
Dear Anne,
You were a very courageous and strong girl.
You didn't reserve to die, as all the Jews that were killed.
You are very famous for your diary today, that made us understand your story.
I have thought I could even have been in your place if I had lived in your period and had been Jewish.
However, I know I would never have had the power to write a diary while the Nazis wanted to kill me.
I wish I had met you.
Kisses,
Lucrezia - 3G
Hello Anna,
I know you suffered a lot.
I wanted to tell you that your diary is very famous all over the world.
Luckily the Nazis are gone and we live better today.
