 Dear Diary, 

         Today I learned that my mom laid us in a styrofoam like substance through the winter to keep us warm. Also, some time soon after laying eggs a female praying mantis dies. That probably means our mom will die soon, but I’m prepared!

Dear Diary,

        My grandpa is a rare kind of praying mantis; he lives in North America!

Most of us praying mantis live in warm places, like rain forests or the tropics. We live in a portuguese rainforest called a laurel forest. I guess that makes us ordinary? But I’m not ordinary!

Dear Diary, 

        Guess what? I‘m ordinary. Turns out I’m the most common praying mantis in Europe. The EUROPEAN mantis. Also, today we learned how to use our front legs to catch food.
