The Mystery of the Restaurant
CHAPTER 1 : THE TICKET
Mary:
Hi, my name is Mary. I live in London. For my birthday, my mum gave me plane tickets to go to India, just me, my best friends Hannah and Mark and my older cousin Hailey. I've always wanted to go to India, I am REALLY interested in their culture. The flight is tomorrow, and I've packed mostly T-shirts and shorts, plus loads of suncream. I can't wait! I really want to see the Taj Mahal and eat curry. Well, I have to have an early night tonight because the flight is early. We are having fish and chips tonight and I am very glad.

CHAPTER 2:BOARDING THE PLANE
Mark:
Today we went to the airport to go to India. I'd never been on a plane, so I was a bit nervous. When we boarded into First Class, I was amazed to see that we had our own separate rooms. I ordered some rice and beans and we took off. It was quite scary, but I have sat down to watch a movie and I'm fine now. The monitor says that there is 12 hours left, so I am going to try and get to sleep. I am very exited to get to India.

CHAPTER 3:TOUCHDOWN! AND MYSTERY...
Hannah:
We arrived in India at 6am British time. Although it was the afternoon here, we were a bit jetlagged, but Mary's cousin Hailey saw a restaurant where they served all sorts of food:stew, spaghetti, dumplings, omelettes...And we went in.
But suddenly we heard a very loud CRASH! and a scream.
We rushed into the kitchen and the chef started rambling in Indian that we couldn't understand.
-In. English. Please.-said Hailey slowly and calmly.
-Someone, mask, ruin my paella. 'It international day, we do Spain...'- commented the Indian chef in bad English.
We could see soup on the stove, and rice and fish all over the floor.
-Ok, calm down. We will have to call the police to investigate.-said Mark.
The police came, but they said that the chef was probably hallucinating or he knocked it over on purpose.
Nor Hailey or I believed that, so we all decided to investigate. We found some rice by the back door, so we went outside and decided to have a look. We saw some tourists and crossed our fingers, hoping they could speak English. We heard an American couple and went straight over.
-Hello, sorry to bother you, but have you seen a person in a mask running out of that door?-said Mary,
pointing out the restaurant.
-Oh yeah, we saw some guy go running off with a bowl of spaghetti in his hands. Nasty looking.-they said.
-Did you see their face?
-Nah, but they had a broken mask on. We could tell it was a guy because the mask only covered his eyes. Looked like he hadn't shaved in years.
-Thank you very much.
Mark suddenly shouted.
-Hey! I found something!
We ran over to him.
I bent down and tasted the red puddle on the floor.
-Bolognese sauce.

CHAPTER 4: THE THEIF DISCOVERED
Hailey:
We went down the alleyway where we found the sauce, but we reached a dead end. Mark built a kind of ladder out of stuff we found and we climbed over the wall that was blocking us. I was really astounded as to how clever these kids were. When I was their age, I didn't even know half of what they know!
Anyway, we climbed over, and we saw a strand of spaghetti by the street that led to the square. We were absolutely boiling from all this running, we could barely breathe. We interrogated people with the information that the kind American man had given us: not clean shaven at all, a broken mask...
A very nice woman called Adhira pointed us in the direction leading towards the desert. We thought this man couldn't have gone far, so we ran quickly and we found him. He looked exactly like the description the Americans has given us. We were shocked to learn that he spoke English, but with a very heavy accent. We learned that he was Spanish, but had come here to India to explore, and didn't have enough money to go back because he had spent it all on equipment and plane fares. He really missed his country, and when he learned that the restaurant was going to be making paella, he decided that he would try to steal it. He tried to grab it, but the chef didn't step away from it, so he took the spaghetti.
He informed us further, telling us that he had sold most of his equipment, but didn't have very much money at all. He was trying not to spend at all, and that is why he hadn't been able to get a proper mask or anything. We asked him how long he had been here, and he said 2 years. Then we started to walk back into town.

CHAPTER 5:THE END
Mary:
We took Juan (the Spanish man), back to the restaurant, and apologized to the chef, and we helped cook a new batch of spaghetti, and bought some paella for Juan. Then we went around the market trying to see if any stalls had a place for Juan so he could earn money and buy a plane ticket back to Spain, but we had no luck. We went into the center of the city and looked in other shops. We went to a museum and we finally found him a
job as a tour guide!
Hailey reminded us that we had to catch our plane back, so we rushed to the airport and boarded.
I did hope that we could have seen more monuments,
but I think it was better to have an adventure.
