A few years ago in the suburbs of a large city of the East lived Ali with his family, his wife and his five children. He owned a beautiful house with a large garden where they lived happily.

He worked as a teacher at his neighborhood school. All his students loved him because he was kind and often talked about fellowship between peoples and peace.

But suddenly one day bombs began to fall in the city of Ali. A big part of the city was destroyed and Ali's home was destroyed in them. Many acquaintances, relatives and friends, were killed. He had to decide whether to stay at the risk of his life or to leave to be saved.

Feeling very sad he decided to leave with his family in a country in Europe where there was peace. The only thing he managed to get with him was a few photos of old happy family moments, a few clothes and the little money he had in his house.

He entered a boat along with many others where the conditions were miserable. Many times they risked drowning. Terror, anxiety and fear were strongly engraved on their faces. After a two-day trip they reached the coasts of a Greek island.

Their boat wrecked and the locals gathered them, giving them warm clothes and food. Even though they did not understand their language, they felt the warmth and thanked them from their heart and showed their gratitude. After recovering Ali, looked for his family and regrettably found out  that one  of his children was missing. His sorrow was indescribable. He began to cry loud. After a long time, the tears dried up. Gathering as much strength as possible, he took his family and followed the rest of the shipwrecked at a hot spot.

There they gave them a tent, secured their daily food and offered them medical care. But no matter how they seemed to have secured their living, he suffered because he did not have the comforts of his home, he did not have a job, and he was terribly bored. However, seeing that there is no chance of returning to his homeland, he decided to learn Greek with his family.

An NGO secured him a home in the city for him. His children went to their neighborhood school and he got a job in a bakery. Life began to have meaning to him. But it was not all easy.

In the block of flats where they were staying, they were not warming accepted by everybody, the residents did not speak to them, and as soon as they turned their backs, they heard offensive comments about them. This troubled Ali and his family.

But there were good neighbors as well who spoke to them courteously, offered them clothes for their children, blankets and household equipment. So their life began to get better.

An event that completely changed the attitude and behavior of the neighbors towards Ali and his family was when he found out that a Greek family had financial problems he helped them secretly by bringing bread from the bakery. Now they all started to like him, and on his face they saw a good man.

As time went by, the children grew up and slowly began to acquire friends and be accepted by more residents of the city. One of his sons met a girl and they decided to get married.

Ali invited the relatives and neighbors to the feast. Most people responded. They came with their gifts and a wonderful wedding feast took place. For a long time the neighborhood was discussing the pleasant event.

Ali's homesickness and nostalgia for his homeland began to fade away. Day after day he felt that a new homeland had opened its arms and he felt secure inside it.

The peace of his soul turned into happiness when he was told that his lost child was found in Italy and that he would soon be back again. The whole family would live happily in a new homeland.
