Ten years earlier.



Katie woke up with joy in her heart; today was the first day she was able to take her black bundle of fluff that she called Jack for a walk. Jack was a 4-month-old terrier puppy and had lived with Katie for 2 months. Katie had longed for the day to arrive were she could take Jack out, and today was that day. But little did she know that this first walk would change her life forever. 

Katie excitedly grabbed her coat, swung her scarf around her neck and stepped out into the crisp, autumn air. As Katie entered the local park Jack tugged on the leash, which dragged her further into their adventure. With Jack pulling Katie in all directions, her eyes were just focused on the end of the leash.

She did not see the stranger walking towards her; and as she bumped into him it was to late. “Sorr-” she paused, her heart missed a beat.

“Are you ok?” said the stranger. The stranger bent down and stroked Jack. “That’s a lovely dog you’ve got there.” Katie was now in eye contact with the stranger. He had dark brown gelled back hair and was wearing a white shirt with a tight black waistcoat and black and white chequered tie. Katie’s mind raced, his eyes sort of had a, well sparkle in them.

“Hi,” Katie blushed, “I’m Katie.”

“I’m Chris” replied the handsome stranger. “Have an nice day,” he said and off he walked. Katie, still red in the cheeks watched Chris leave.

For the following week Katie retraced her steps through the park at the same time everyday in the hope of meeting Chris again. She was giving up hope that she would ever meet the stranger again. That morning she tried once again and to Katie’s surprise, there he was and they struck up the most wonderful conversation and the start of their fantastic romance.

Their first real date was two weeks later at 'Nandos'. They chatted all night like they'd known each other for years. They made each other laugh, Katie's laugh was infectious. It made Chris laugh and smile, when he smiled it wasn't just with his mouth it was also with his eyes . That night they both knew that their love would last.
