The events in the story take place during the American
Civil War, and real generals like Grant or Lee are added.

I dedicate this story to my classmates, to my teacher
and to everyone who died in the Civil War or any
other war.

Abe's Opportunity

It was an ordinary day in Washington DC,in
the year 1863. The American Army was fighting in

the Civil War. President Abe Lincoln was
sitting on his desk, receiving some reports from
one of his best generals, general Grant.
' And we've just defeated the enemies at
Gettysburg', said general Grant. 'We're starting to win
this war. The Union (The USA) will win.'

' Great job, general Grant. America thanks you.'
Suddenly, there was a strange noise coming from the
wardrobe. The two went to check what was going on.
                             A strange, purple portal, appeared.
                             Lincoln said:
                             ' I'll go in.You stay here, general
                              Grant.'
                             ' But, my president...'
                             ' It's an order!'
                              And so Abe Lincoln entered the
                              mysterious portal.
A new world revealed in front of his eyes.

He spotted a short man.The man said:
' I am Steve, and you are... '
' I am Abraham Lincoln, President of the USA! '
' Yeah... and I'm the Sultan of Turkey!' and Steve
burst into laughter. ' Just kidding, Abe.'
' Yeah, it's quite funny. But I really am President of
the USA. Looks like you're not from there... '
' That's right, I'm from Sweden '
' And... where am I now?'
' You're in....'
' Sssssssssssssss' said a strange creature.
' Oh no! said Steve. It's a creeper! Run!!!! '

The two ran away from the
green creature,which exploded
shortly after.
'What is a creeper?'Abe asked.
'It's one of the most
dangerous creatures of this
dimension. It blows up when you are close
to it.'
'Ok... Anyway, I asked you before, where
am I?'
'You're in Minecraft! A dangerous land but

full of opportunities!'
'Sure. But can you get me out of here?'
'How did you get there?'
'Using a strange purple portal.'
'Oh! I know that! We have that in Minecraft. I've
never used one, though. It is said that it sends
you to the Nether Lands.'
'Netherlands, you mean?That country in Europe?'
'No, the Nether Lands. It is said that it's a hot fiery
world filled with terrifying creatures!'
'Maybe we can find something there that I can use
to return.Will you help me?'

'Deal.Will you help me return to Sweden?'
'Deal.'
And the two started walking through the dimension,
searching for something they could use to make a
portal.
'And, Steve, what did you tell me it can be made of?'
'Sources tell me that we can form one when fire
lights a rectangle of lava and water.'
And the two continued to walk.They spotted a canyon.
At the bottom of it, they saw a lava lake.
'Ok, Abe,wait for me to get some water.'
'Fine, buddy, I'll wait here. And what if a creeper or
however you called it attacks me?'

'They don't attack in these areas.You will be fine.'
'If you say so...'
Meanwhile, back to Washington DC, General Grant was
reading some news reports.
'Confederate General Lee flees to Holland.'
'Abe Lincoln gone.'
'Russia looking to sell Alaska.'
'I can't believe Abe has been gone for two weeks!' he said.
Suddenly, a group of enemy people threatened him.
'Ulysses S. Grant! Sign the treaty of surrender now or
face death!'
'I have no authority to sign that. Only President Lincoln
has the authority. Just let me give one more order to the
armed forces.'
'Fine, you can do that!'

'Attention, Generals of the U.S. Army! I, General
Grant,,have been captured by a group of Confederate
forces. I have to abandon Washington or even the
country. However, you keep fighting! America will
eventually win!'
'Sure', said a Confederate soldier. 'Come on, guys,
board him on the first ship to Holland!'
Meanwhile, in Minecraft, Abe was complaining.
'Why is it taking Steve so long to get some water?'
Suddenly, a green creature approached him.
'Oh,no! It's a creeper!'
The creeper blew up, and the shock of
the explosion sent Abe flying above the
lava! Everything seemed lost!

Part II So Abe Lincoln was now falling into the lava.
However, Steve knew what he was doing.
'Look out, Abe!'
Steve was riding a boat, on a wave, caught Abe,
and pulled him onto the boat.
'Look!The lava's gone!said Abe.'The water
must have done something!'
'Indeed. Now let's just wait for the place to
run out of water and then we can mine some
bricks for the portal!'
