Hi! I'm Eliza and I will give you some information about him. Nicolae Grigorescu was born on May 15,1838, in Pitaru, Dâmbovița County, and died on July 21,1907, in Câmpina. He is one of the most important painters in Romanian culture, being one of the first founders of modern Romanian painting.

    In 1877 he was called as a painter on the front, to accompany the Romanian army in several battles of Grivita and Rahova. This painting is called "Atacul de la Smârdan" and it was made in 1878-1885. After a period of activity in France, he returned to the country in 1890 and moved to Câmpina.

Nicolae Grigorescu died on July 21, 1907 at Câmpina and left the work unfinished returning from the Balci. The work of this great painter had an overwhelming influence on both his contemporaries and future generations of painters. On February 25, 1856, he finished his first remarkable icon, that of Saint Spiridon, which had been commissioned by the Bacău corporation.

This painting is called "Țăranca din Muscel" and it was made between 1878 and 1886. The work belongs to the National Museum of Art of Romania, it was not dated by the artist, but it was signed in the lower left part of it.

The painting "Car cu boi", made in 1897, when Nicolae Grigorescu was already in full artistic maturity.
Painted in oil on wood, with average dimensions of 24/44 centimeters, the painting is signed below, on the right, in red, with the author's name, next to which is the year of execution, in the form of the last two digits 1897.

On the front is the portrait of the painter Nicolae Grigorescu, and on the back a peasant house and a fragment of a painting of his. For the banknote with a face value of 10 lei there were two different issues (2005 and 2008), with shades of color and various security features.
