Send C of E Primary School, England
Chapter 1
It is a warm and yellow autumn afternoon in Send and the school is as busy as ever. We sat in our classroom, reading once more our kindness story. After a long journey across different countries from Europe and Africa, the train of kindness stopped at its original destination but this is not the end of its adventure. Our train will leave the station again at kindness o’clock. However, this time on a different mission; we have to save the planet!
Let’s repair our planet, clean our air, revive the oceans and fix our climate!
The children at Send C of E Primary School began the mission to reverse climate change. They know this is a difficult task, but if all the countries and schools work together, this mission will be successful.
The problems are in the world, but the change is in our hands.
The train left our station once more and started its journey to fix climate change. We do not know what lies ahead, but we know that we can write together a new chapter for the future history books; the beginning of a change...
Pena de Francia Primary School, Spain
Chapter II
The children from Pena de Francia Primary School wanted to be part of the change so they decided to go to the railway station and wait for the Train of Kindness.
The train brought them a letter in an enormous envelope. The letter said: " You have to help the planet because it is ill. It needs help. What could you do?"
We had an idea about how to cure the planet. We could do it with the help of the 3R'S: Reduce-Reuse-Recycle. After a while we decided to take reusable water bottles to school instead of single-use water plastic bottles.
- We have already got 2R'S because we are reducing single-use plastic and we are reusing our water bottles, explained Uxía.
- Now let's get the third one, said Ariadna.
- What could we do ?, asked Laura.
The whole class started to think and Fabio said : " I' ve got it!. We can recycle our pens, felt-tips and batteries. We will ask the suitable bins."
We had got our third R !!. Anxo wrote them in the letter and then all of us signed. These were our pledges to carry on with the 3R'S actions. We were contributing with our little actions to help the planet.
The following day we went to the railway station. We gave the letter back to the Train of Kindness. It asked us to continue looking after our planet because there was only one.
Then, the train said goodbye and started another journey to a new destination.
18 Elementary School of Kalamata, Greece, Chapter III
It was a quiet December afternoon in Kalamata, a seaside town in the south of Greece, and most people were staying in their houses, safe and busy. The children had online lessons and that day a surprise was waiting for the students of class F4. When they entered their teacher’ s virtual room, she was holding a very big envelope with a significant letter inside.
“What is that, Miss?”, Alcestis and Ariadne asked.
“My dear children, today is a big day. Today, the train of kindness reached our town.”
“The train of kindness?”, exclaimed Christianna.
And the teacher began to explain how it has been travelling across Europe, asking people to do their best for our planet, our home. Cynthia, Dimitra, Zoe, Panos and their fellow students learnt a lot about climate change during that lesson. Fani, Konstandinos, Athena and Michael asked a lot of questions and the teacher explained how we can reverse climate change. The children were all very concerned and made a pledge. Finally, it was time to say goodbye and look forward to their next meeting.
In their next lesson, Jason said that after discussing with his parents, they decided not to cover the radiators with objects so that they have greater efficiency in the heating of the house. In winter, they would close the shutters and curtains at night, so that the warmth stays inside the house. In their home, they would recycle any materials they could, because by recycling you save energy. The production of products from recycled materials requires less energy than the production from raw materials.
Another student, Ioanna said: “The other day my mum was cooking my favorite food. I noticed that she had left the pots uncovered. All the eyes of the kitchen were on at 9 and the food was boiling at a very high temperature. I immediately remembered what our teacher had told us about saving energy. I explained to my mum that we should not waste energy unnecessarily, because that way we protect the environment. It is important for each one of us to be more responsible in the proper use of energy. So I suggested she cooks with lids on the pots and at lower temperatures.”
Konstandina said: “My family and I decided not to waste energy in our house. It is important to turn off the lights when we leave our room. It would also be good to use low-energy light bulbs and, when not in use, turn off electrical appliances or unplug them.”
Theodosia said that when she finishes her homework, she turns off her lamp. She also uses A+++ low-energy light bulbs and appliances. She goes to school or to the supermarket on foot or by bicycle.
The teacher was very proud of all her students. She wrote about their pledge in the letter, closed the envelope and gave it back to the train of kindness. It still had a long way to go...
St Denis Primary School, Glasgow, Scotland
Chapter IV
After a long journey, the Train of Kindness finally arrived in Scotland. The train driver handed the letter to Primary 6 from Primary 6 saying, “I hope you have some good ideas to save the planet, good luck on your mission.” Primary 6 waved the Train of Kindness goodbye and went back to school to have a think about what they could do to help the planet. “I have a great idea, how about we plant a wild flower garden to encourage bees and butterflies to live in our local environment,” said Zoya.
“Yes, bees are super important to the environment and they will help us pollinate our fruit and vegetables in our school garden,” announced Ciaran. Primary 6 went outside and got to work sowing wildflower seeds to encourage the bees to come and visit. When they were finished, Brandon said, “The bees that will come and visit us will also visit other places, we are really helping our planet grow to be healthy and strong.” “What’s that sound?” questioned Ellie, “It’s the Train of Kindness getting ready to pass the message onto someone else” said Gloria. Primary 6 walked back to station and waved to the Train of Kindness, as it continued on its journey to its next destination.
Primary School of Neo Chorio Apokoronou, Greece Ch V
The train was travelling for days and days, heading to the south of Europe. Its new destination was the Primary School of Neo Chorio Apokoronou, situated on the largest island of Greece, Crete. As the train could not cross the sea, the train driver attached the letter on a pigeon.
But the pigeon did not find the students of the 6th class at school. They were at the nearby beach, where they were picking up the rubbish. The pigeon threw the letter on Helen’s head. “This is unacceptable”, Helen said angrily. “It is raining rubbish!”.
Anna Maria opened the letter and read it. “It is a letter from the Train of Kindness. It writes that we have to help save our planet!”. “Perfect”, said Afroditi. “We are already helping our planet. We are cleaning the beach!”. “In this way”, said Menas, “we also keep the sea water clean”.
Primary School of Neo Chorio Apokoronou, Greece Ch V
“I cannot understand why people do not put their rubbish in the bins. We have found so many plastic bags, bottles, cigarette butts and food wrappers”, protested Argiro and Ellie. The children knew how dangerous the plastic pollutants were for fish and sea turtles. “By polluting the beach, we harm not only the sea life but ourselves too. If we swim in dirty water or play on dirty sand we may get ill”, said Peter. “The whole ecosystem suffers”, agreed Bill.
“And don’t forget the mermaids!”, exclaimed George. “Their hair is ruined by all this rubbish!”. “What an imagination!”, said Stella and everybody laughed...
The pupils of Neo Chorio finished their job. The beach was completely clean! They wrote down their ideas on the letter and attached it on the pigeon again. It would bring it back to the Train of Kindness and from there, to its next destination!
Sigulda Town Secondary School, Latvia, Ch 6
It was a cold winter day in a little country where children were happy doing some winter activities. In the school yard some of them were skiing, some – sledging, some – making snow angels when the teacher asked them to come in the classroom. „Have you heard about the mysterious train that arrived in our little town?’ „No, because we usually see only our local trains. What is this train like?’
„This train is called the Kindness train and it travels through a lot of countries in Europe. It just arrived from Greece.”
„Greece? It is so far away! I can’t even imagine how far it is...’ said little Līga.
„Yes, it is. But we have one thing in common – the climate change.”
„Are they also worried about pollution? About warm winters and cold summers? Do they also think about reducing, recycling and reusing?”asked one of the boys.
„Of course, they do. We’ve got a letter from other countries with the stories from children about their help for the climate. Can we continue writing this letter? What do we do in Latvia?’
The tallest boy in the class started: „Remember the plastic bottles we brought to school and made a lot of necessary things - bird feeders, piggy banks, pencil holders and hanging baskets in our classroom.”
„Oh, I liked our etwinning project about leftovers. It was fabulous how we all worked together and made tasty dishes from leftovers – buckwheat balls and pumpkin pancakes.” added the shyest girl in the class.
„My friends – what about the contest of collecting paper? We were so busy talking to people and asking them to give the newspapers and magazines. It was fun, too!”
„But I remember our costumes for the school party – we made skirts and shirts from the plastic bags!” one boy laughed.
„And I can’t wait when the snow will melt – our traditional Joint Work Event when everybody picks the rubbish around the town and after work - a bowl of hot soup made from local products! Mmm .....”
The teacher stopped students chatting and talking:”OK, I’m sure we could talk and remember a lot of activities we did to save our environment and our lives. But as all the trains – the Kindness Train has to leave and take the message of saving the climate to as many countries and people as possible.”

Romanian children are very happy. The Train of Kindness will arrive at Constanța train station, the city on the Black Sea on the Romanian coast. Maria and George are eager to receive their letter.
The train stops at the station and the driver gives them the letter. The children are in a hurry to get to kindergarten where the teacher will read to them what is written in it. They are eager to know how and who they will help this time.
- Our planet is in danger and needs our help! said the teacher. Children, let's find solutions to save our planet. Do you have any idea? You know, more countries are looking for solutions. Maria and George talked to their teacher, colleagues, and parents.
- Let's collect used oil!
- What a good idea! said Mary. This is how we can help save our planet. My mother told me that used oil pollutes water and soil.
Thus, with the help of their parents, they opened a used oil collection center.
Many people in the city participated in this action. Some of them knew that used oil was polluting, but they did not know where to take it.
Glad for their deed, the children sent messages to other schools telling how necessary it is not to spill used oil into the environment.
The train driver started the locomotive and the Train of Kindness went to other countries.
Grădinița cu Program Prelungit "Neghiniță”, Cluj-Napoca, România, Ch 8
Unfortunatelly the train driver started the locomotive and the train drew out, so until the children, Maria and George got to the station, it was gone... Now what was to be done? They were confused and frightened because the message of used oil must be collected was important. Than George had an idea! He remembered, that on the Black Sea`` s seaside there are a lot of storks. They have recently came back from warmest countries. They could bring the message to!
As they lived in Năvodari, a seaside town along the Black Sea, it was the best idea that could come by!They springed up and arrived to the stork`` s nest. Sadly, one of them was prisoned by an plastic bag. It was so horrible to see! They hurried to rescue it and finally succeeded. Than knitted the letter to the stork` s leg and sended the message to friends from Cluj-Napoca, Bogdan and István who could make the train that they have missed in Năvodari. As the plan was set, the Train of Kindness could carry on the good deeds. They felt released and happy, though they made a foto of the traped stork to aware comunity that preponderant use of plastic harms the whole enviroment.

The traped stork that George and Maria released from plastic bag.
ESCOLA EDUMAR, (Castelldefels, SPAIN )
Year 2
It was a quiet (almost) spring morning in Castelldefels, a nice and warm March day... Suddenly the 2nd grade students heard the sound of a train entering the station that is just two streets away from the school. The Train of Kindness finally arrived to Castelldefels!!!
We were really excited about it!!!
A few days ago we started seeing strange animals near our school: Florida turtles !!! But if we are in the Mediterranean area!! And ... where are our stream turtles? American turtles were a plague and very dangerous!
After feeling very happy and proud for their contribution to the care of native animals, another problem arose, dead bees appeared on the balcony of our school ... and our flowers were getting smaller and less.

Bye, bye Train of kidness!!

Scuola dell'Infanzia Speranza
Busto Arsizio Italy Ch 10
The train of kindness with its big letter also arrived at the kindergarten Speranza in Busto Arsizio Italy. The children are very enthusiastic: "We can tell about our commitments to the environment!"
For some months, in fact, the children have been personally taking care of the cleaning of their garden:
they have collected fallen leaves and
branches and placed them inside the
compost bin. But they also cleaned
it of papers and trash left by someone.

In effect, they collect and differentiate what they find. "If everyone kept it clean, the Earth would be a big garden," says the teacher. "That's true! And it would be even better if no one left the garbage" they answer in chorus.
In fact, they are very conscientious children. They also decided not to waste the wipes on hand drying. They had a simple idea: every day, as in all kindergartens, they wash their hands very often and throw away the paper towel after drying: how much wasted paper !!!! For this reason they have decided not to use them anymore. Each time they wash their hands, they decide whether to use paper towels or let them dry moving in the air.
I assure you that everyone dries their hands in the wind! How much paper saved! Nature thanks us.
And now we want to tell you about last initiative: all the children of our nearby schools have received flower seeds to sow in their homes. In this way the bees will find many flowers waiting for them and flying from one balcony to another, from one vase to another. We have created a HIGHWAY FOR BEES.
Greetings to all, the train
of kindness has to leave
for a new journey with
an ever heavier envelope
full of good deeds.

The Train of Goodness
Nevzat CAN Güzel Primary School / TURKEY
ŞİRİNEVLER MEHMET ŞEN PRIMARY SCHOOL,
ISTANBUL, TURKEY
The students of the 2 / K class at the Şirinevler Mehmet Şen Primary School were enthusiastically following the journey of the "train of kindness".
They were excitedly awaiting the train of kindness arrival to the 5th peron at the station near their school.
Anıl asked: How will we know that the train of kindness has arrived?
Zeynep answered: When all trains approach the station, they blow their whistle.
The whistle of " the train of kindness " is different from the others. I always hear the incoming trains whistle.
I can let you know when the train of kindness comes to the station. You know, our house is very close to the station. The other children were very happy about it.
One day, they gathered at Zeynep's house and talked about the " Train of kindness".
The children knew that the "Train of kindness" left a letter to the children wishing to do good at each station.
Until the "Train of kindness" came to the station in Şirinevler, it had stopped at many stations and distributed tasks to the children there.
The letters he received from those stations were also delivered to children in other cities.
Many creatures has been helped.
Efe asked: "Will the train of kindness" bring us a letter? The other guys said: Yes!
Mina said: There may be a duty in the letter for us.
Efe said: We are doing the task written in the letter. Then we write a letter and send it to another station by "Train of Kindness".
While waiting for the train, the children talked to each other. They wanted to determine what subject they would work on.
Endangered creatures, Water, air, soil protection, poor people, recycling, waste… They learned a lot about climate change this year.
Zeynep: But we are just children, what can we do?
Anıl said, `` For example, we can write a letter to the regional governor where extinct animals live and remind them that they should protect the animals.
Efe liked this idea very much. Also, "We can give unused clothes to poor people." He said.
The children heard the sound of the train approaching the station.
Choo choo choo
The train started whistling, it had a different sound than other trains. The train that came to the children was the "Kindness train".
The enthusiastic best children of the machinist. They were looking forward to receiving the letter. The machinist gave the boys a letter. The machinist is pleased with this.
The machinist called out: You'll bring me a letter in 3 days. You don't forget!
I am going to take away it to another one station.
Children sat at the nextly table.
Zeynep started to read the letter.
"Dear friens, our planet is our home. Many creatures live in this house. All living things have the right to live. We must respect the right to life of all living things."
You know the "Train of kindness" stopped at the station around the world in Europe and met with the children there. He collaborated with the children. The "Train of kindness" works for all creatures in need of help. Now it's your turn.
You have learned a lot about "Climate change" all year long. Look at the Climate Change 20 Steps Poster and choose a task. You can help animals, plants or people.
"Your help will be a favor for the future.”
After reading the letter, the children looked at the "20 steps for challenge climate change poster". They made a joint decision. They chose primarily "animals in danger of extinction".
They wanted to be the hero of endangered animals.
Bald ibis birds, whose numbers were decreasing day by day, live in Şanlıurfa. Şanlıurfa is a city southeast of the Turkey. They made a plan.
They decided to send a letter to the governor. They wrote in letters reminding them to use pesticides more carefully.
The farmers told trainers about it in a way.
They politely explained that they should educate farmers on this issue.
Later, they gave some of the clothes and toys they had collected for a long time to poor families. They threw the paper, plastic, glass and battery waste accumulated in their homes into recycling bins.
They were very happy to meet the "Train of Kindness" at an early age.
It was time for the Kindness Train to leave the station. The children got to the station quickly. They had written a letter describing their good deeds. They gave the letter to the mechanic. They sent love and good wishes to the next station.
When the train set off, all the children waved affectionately.
Then the children stood in a row like a train. They left the station singing:
Choo choo choo
We are the train of kindness la la la
Choo choo choo
Everyone must hear our sound la la la
Choo choo choo
Our trip is beginning
Choo choo choo
The train of kindness is coming

Elif : I think the issue of animal rights is also very important . Berat also has this idea . Berat: Many animals are endangered.
This issue is also important, he said. Bahar: The forests have decreased a lot. Beyza: Drought is the biggest threat. Melisa said: Water resources are running out fast in the world.
