STORY FROM THE CZECH REPUBLIC

Hello,
my name is John. I would like to tell you a story about our guardian.
If you come to our village - to Nivnice, you can see this mark.
This is a symbol of the Teacher of National.

A few years ago was born a small boy John. He was very happy and very clever but he lost his parents.
Then he moved to another place and there he went to school. From childhood, he lived with his aunt, who raised him. One day his aunt asks him: " John, what are you going to do?" " I would like to be a teacher because I know how can we learn better." She smiled and she continued in her work.

This dream really began to come true. John becomes a teacher. His pupils love him and he loves them. All his energy was focused on creating books for education.

He believed that if all people will be educated and live a wonderful life, we can live in peace. All his efforts were thwarted by an unpleasant fact. His wife and children died. "Oh, well, my lovely wife ...." he cried for a lot.
This bad experience of private life made him a bigger protector of peace and humanity. Because the more we fall, the stronger we are.
In the years 1654-1656 he stayed again in Lešno, where he worked on Pansofia. In 1654, Sweden invaded Poland, but the Swedish invasion of Poland avoided Leszno for some time. On April 27, 1656, ten thousand Polish guerrillas began besieging the city and setting fire to buildings and houses. On that day, John Amos Comenius lost all his work. Especially about his life's work Czech-Latin dictionary.
This man, who sought strength in God, proved that, despite all the pitfalls, we are able to lead a beautiful life. A life full of joy, love ... we can simply be an angel for others.

The Jewish cemetery in danger
The cemeteries are silent places all around the world. The Jewish cemetery is one of the most mysterious places in our small town.
One day very strange things begin to happen there. Some gaps or holes start appearing between the past, present and future. If someone discovers them and goes through them he can destroy the planet.
Many graves seem to be quiet but the guardians can hear one crying loudly. Who was that? Only a 23-years-old girl who has her last rest in this grave with a beautiful name - Lilly Hollander. Nobody knows anything about her. However, the headstone reveals that she wasn´´ t married and was born into a wealthy family. Her grave is located in the corner of the cemetery separated from the others. It means that she had committed suicide. But the happiness did not return to Lilli after her death. The peace is far from her and she can never reach it. Some people think that the spirit of Lilli guards the cemetery to this day. She is walking through the monuments at night and looking for someone to help her to get rid of her past and save her life.

Lily has noticed that strange atmosphere immediately. She tried to stop it, but she couldn't. The only thing she can do is to call the guardians. She knows that their motto is „Help and protect“. This is the only way how to keep this place for next generation.
These guardians are ghosts. They don´ t want people to notice them so they change their appearnce all the time. They adapt their style of dressing to the time period. They always carry a sword with them. They are ready to serve anytime and anywhere.

Legend from Serbia
Written by the Guardians from
Vuk Karadzic Primary School, Krusevac, Serbia

Looking upon our town of Krusevac, the thing that sticks out the most is the beautiful hill of Bagdala.
This is a story about how that hill came to be.
There once was a boy named Vladimir - a standard village boy with a standard life and a good name – and he was in love with the most beautiful girl in Krusevac. Her name was Ljiljana, but for the sake of the story and translation we will call her Lily. One day, Lily was taken by a ruthless three headed dragon, who often took women from villages for pleasure. The dragon was terrifying with its sharp bulky teeth and fiery scales, not to mention the three identical heads rising from its enormous torso. There was talk of a way of rescuing maidens that the dragon takes, but no man has ever come back.
Our main hero - Vladimir - was determined to save his love. He went on top of the mountain of Jastrebac, behind which was an unknown area, and saw a huge maze. In that moment he knew this was going to be the most difficult thing he was ever going to face. He went into the maze with caution. In it was his first obstacle – snakes. In this situation, being a farm boy pays very generously because he knew a sound that makes snakes scared. He made the sound over and over again, until the snakes disappeared in multiple holes into the wall.

As a reward for this passionate obstacle through which he showed wisdom and resourcefulness, he received a long beautiful sword.
When Vladimir crossed the first part of the labyrinth, he came across another obstacle. He was frightened, there was a dangerous two-headed wolf in front of him. The boy approached him cautiously and swung his long sword. The wolf attacks him, but the resourceful Vladimir defended himself and after a long fight defeats the stagnant beast.
This obstacle brings the key to a young but strong and brave boy.Vladimir continued strongly through the labyrinth.

Then he encounters a third obstacle, where he should have wisely used the key he given. There was a door in front of him.
The first door shows him the path to happiness-where he would have an unreal life, and the second door leads him to the goal-to his true love, for which he has crossed a path that no one has ever reached.
Then the boy chooses another door, enters through it and there awaits him a seed that is a reward for
his loyalty and hope he has shown.
Then he goes out into the meadow,
and looking at the seed he throws
things on the floor and gives up
on everything. The boy began
to cry and fell asleep tiredly.

When he woke up in the morning he was in the clouds far from ground. He looked around in astonishment, and then he realized that the seed had sprouted from his tears.
The whole long day has passed and he finally arrived at the floating island. When he arrived, he took of the rough plants off of the old door with his heavy sword. The door opened.

STORY FROM CROATIA

According to the legend, once upon a time, this area was ruled by the powerful Ban Count Herman II. Celje. His young son Frederick, riding his father's estates, stared at the gentle golden-haired beauty, Veronica. A mutual love erupted between Veronica and Frederick, which was not to the liking of old Herman. Despite his opposition, Frederick and Veronica fled to the town of Friedrichstein near Kočevje, Slovenia, where they secretly married. Old Count Herman soon found out about their wedding and sent an army with an order to capture the lovers.

Old Count Herman soon found out about their wedding and sent an army with an order to capture the lovers.

Frederick managed to save Veronica from the city, and she fled through Gorski Kotar and Kalnik to the village of Sveta Margita. Frederick was captured by his father's soldiers and imprisoned in the Celje Tower, narrow and about 23 m high. He was imprisoned there for over four years. Since then, that tower has been called Frederick's Tower. Veronica was imprisoned by Herman's soldiers in Veliki Tabor. Herman accused the unfortunate Veronica of being the Copernicus who seduced his son. A trial was organized that lasted a full two days.

On the eve of the second day, the judges
declared: Mr Bane! There is no guilt on this girl, let alone a crime. The only thing that cultivates great love for your son Frederick. But, too bright bane, love has never been a sin, let alone a crime. Love is one of the most beautiful human virtues! With that, our job, too bright bane, is over. Despite the verdict, as soon as the judges headed for the exit, Count Herman issued an order to the castellan to kill Veronica. In the yard of Veliki Tabor, they placed a wooden vessel full of water and drowned Veronica in it. Her dead body was built into the wall connecting the pentagonal tower with the entrance to the castle.

However, even today, especially on long winter nights, in Veliki Tabor, with the howling of the wind, the sobs of the unfortunate Veronica can be heard…
