Hi! My name is Peyton Bergevin and I aspire to be a teacher :)) I plan on becoming an Elementary Educator with an endorsement in mathematics. I also plan on becoming a youth basketball coach.

I have kind of always known I wanted to be an educator. I have strong leadership and communication skills and have always wanted to work with children. Every educator I have ever had has impacted my educational career and has inspired me to impact future students. My endorsement of mathematics also allows me to follow my passion for math and helping younger students become stronger math leaders.

Each person possesses traits and characteristics that make up their identities. As educators, you can either empower or oppress student's identities. By failing to include and recognize every identity in a learning environment, students will not feel represented and accepted in school and educators would not be able to teach to the best of their abilities. Every person should be and feel valued in school.

 When given the opportunity

  to research the topic of   my own choice, I was able

    to write an annotated

    bibliography about the importance of mental health

           in classrooms.

Mental Health services for students in this day and age is such an important and prevalent topic. I decided to focus my paper specifically on training educators with adequate mental health training to provide secondary education students with better mental health services. Discussing mental health in classrooms and having the training to recognize and understand mental health struggles will help improve the mental health of students and the overall learning of students in classrooms.
