I was at home taking a nap and had a wonderful dream. In my dream I am in the UK just at Christmas time and I can experience what they do.
I found my self at London square. I´ ve seen many Christmas trees and many shops with beautifull Christmas decoration. I went to one of them and I bought an Advent Calendar. I was happy as I can open each day one box to get a surprise. I heard that in many countries, such as Sweden, people started to set up their Advent and Christmas decorations on the first day of Advent. The tradition of a decorated tree is old since the Celts already decorated a tree, the symbol of life at the time of the Winter Solstice. Dominik Moravanský

I can see the Nativity scene on the right . In the Christian tradition, a nativity scene is the special exhibition, particularly during the Christmas season, of art objects representing the birth of Jesus. Nativity scenes exhibit figures representing the infant Jesus, his mother, Mary, and her husband, Joseph. The birth of Jesus is the reason why we celebrate Christmas.

I see the Advent Calendar and it reminds me Advent and particularly the four Sundays before Christmas Day which are a period of preparation for Christmas for many centuries. Advent wreaths are groups of four candles with leaves and twigs from evergreen trees and plants. People light one candle on the first Sunday of Advent, two on the second Sunday, three on the third Sunday and all four on the fourth Sunday. Churches and shopping centers may be busier than usual as people prepare for the Christmas season. Many people put up Christmas decorations in their homes, schools and offices. Some people write or post Christmas cards to family members and friends. Others bake a Christmas cake or cook a Chrismas pudding.

There are a lot of interesting typical christmas decorations in england. The typical Christmas colours are red and green so people in England usually decorate their houses in these colours. They make hanging trees and bells from paper and hang them from their ceilings. They also hang holly and ivy in their houses. Many Christian homes have a nativity scene and they add baby Jesus to it on Christmas day. Everyone also has Christmas trees like many other countries in the world.

I see an Advent wreath on the table. It is another typical symbol of Advent. In other words, Advent Crown, is a Christian tradition that symbolizes the passage of the four weeks of Advent. It is an evergreen wreath with four candles. We light the first candle on the first Sunday of Advent. One is added to it every week, until the last Sunday of Advent.

The candles on the Advent wreath symbolize hope, love, joy and peace.

While I was enjoying advent decorations I heard kids talking about Christmas days. Christmas Eve is the Day before Christmas Day, which is annually on December 24. Christmas Eve is the last day for many people to shop and prepare for the Christmas celebrations and festive meals.. December 25th is celebrated in the United Kingdom as Christmas Day. It traditionally celebrates Jesus Christ's birth. People are decorating their houses.
These decorations may include:
-Christmas trees.
-Small colored fairy lights.
-Leaves and berries from holly trees and mistletoe bushes.
-Various other decorations with rich colors that spark the Christmas mood.
Decmeber 26th is called Boxing Day. For many people Boxing Day is a time to recover from the excesses of Christmas Day and an opportunity to spend time with family, friends, and neighbours.

A minute later I appeared at Christmas day in the United Kingdom and I find out that the UK families often celebrate Christmas together, so they can watch each other open their presents! Most families have a Christmas Tree in their house for Christmas. Children believe that Father Christmas or Santa brings presents.

Children write letters to Father Christmas/Santa listing their requests, but sometimes instead of putting them in the post, the letters are tossed into the fireplace. The draught carries the letters up the chimney and Father Christmas/Santa reads the smoke.

I have also seen through the window what people in the UK wear at the Christmas dinner table.
They are wearing the paper hats, with the appearance of colored crowns.
The paper crowns are made of tissue paper and unfold into an actual crown.
These crowns are found in the festively designed Christmas crackers that decorate English holiday tables.
The cracker is a paper tube, covered in foil, twisted at both ends. It’s shaped like a large sweet with surprise inside. It is usually a joke, a small toy and a paper crown.
The tradition of wearing festive hats is believed to date back to Roman times.

I could smell the scent of every food
they have had on a table during Christmas dinner
They enjoy delicious food like the most popular roast turkey, Christmas pudding, roast potatoes, tiny sausages wrapped in bacon (pigs in a blanket) and a lot other delicious meals. The Christmas dinner is more like a late lunch, served between 2pm and 3pm on the 25th December.
There were also a Christmas crackers, which were placed next to the each plate on the table. They make a snapping sound when pulled open, and often contain a small gift and a joke.

Christmas pudding is traditionally served as part of the Christmas dinner. It has been brought there by British and Irish immigrants. The pudding contains no actual plums due to the pre-Victorian use of the word "plums" as a term for raisins. The pudding is traditionally composed of thirteen ingredients, symbolizing Jesus and the Twelve Apostles.
MINCE PIE
A mince pie is a sweet pie of English origin, filled with a mixture of dried fruits and spices called "mincemeat", that is traditionally served during the Christmas season . Its ingredients are traceable to the 13th century, when returning European crusaders brought with them Middle Eastern recipes containing meats, fruits and spices; these contained the Christian symbolism of representing the gifts delivered to Jesus.
Meanwhile, I noticed as two people were pulling crackers at Christmas dinner. A cracker is composed of a segmented cardboard tube wrapped in a brightly decorated twist of paper with a prize in the middle, so it looks like an oversized sweet-wrapper. The cracker is pulled apart by two people, each holding its outer part - chamber, so the cracker splits unevenly and leaving one person holding the central chamber and prize. The split is accompanied by a mild bang or snapping sound produced by the effect of friction on a shock-sensitive, chemically impregnated card strip (similar to that used in a cap gun). One chemical used for the friction strip is silver fulminate.

On the street I can hear people singing Christmas Carols. They are special songs which are sung during the Christmas season. The songs are about Jesus and the time when he was born. Many Christmas carols were written for a special purpose, often to accompany performances of religious dramas dating from medieval times. Carol singing, or Caroling, is singing carols in the street or public places. It is one of the oldest customs in Great Britain, going back to the Middle Ages when beggars, seeking food, money, or drink, would wander the streets singing holiday songs.

All is calm, all is bright
'Round yon virgin Mother and Child
Holy infant so tender and mild
Sleep in heavenly peace
Sleep in heavenly peace ....
Today it is December 26th and they call it Boxing day. It is a time to spend with family or friends. I heard that on Boxing day fox hunting was popular sport for the upper class but nowdays fox hunting is outlawed. Boxing Day is also an important day for sporting events. I see some families eating left over turkey and some playing sports like rugby, soccer. They are having so much fun.
While I was walking throught the city I noticed that among the American Christmas decorations there must be a tree on which they have hunged decorations of all sorts from the Christmas balls, stantas, reindeer and very important are lights of all colors. in some families they have Christmas villages. Towns and cities often decorate the streets with lights to celebrate Christmas. Most famous Christmas street lights in the USA are at the Rockefeller Center in New York where there is a huge Christmas Tree.

Suddenly I have moved to the USA for Christmas dinner
Americans have Christmas dinner at the 24th (the Christmas Eve). The family gathers at the dining table where they enjoy the delicious food together.
The traditional meal in USA is a roasted turkey with roasted root vegetables, rice or mashed potatoes. This feast is very similar to the UK’s traditional Christmas dinner. Since America is a state of people with very different nationalities and religion, almost every family adds something own to their celebrating. Speaking of the food, for example many people add their own side dishes like sea food, crackers, fruits and many more. After the dinner family usually meets near the christmas tree and finish the dinner with sweets, desserts, cakes and cookies. They get used to leave a plate of sweets and milk or hot cocoa for incoming Santa Claus.
Laura Slováková
Later I have been to Slovakia where the Christmas dinner varies between regions and families. But in general , typical foods for dinner in Slovakia is for example a fish dish, potato salad ( including mayonnaise, pickles, carrot,..), for soup there is very popular kapustnica - sauerkraut with meat, sausages, dried mushrooms and cream. We cannot forgot about cookies, gingerbreads, vanilla crescents, and another sweets that have to be on dinner table. Each family makes different types of sweets every year and they are served to their guests.

Some strange noise is coming out from the window. "Ho-ho-ho", its Santa!
Santa Claus, also known as Father Christmas is a legendary character in Western Christian culture who is said to bring gifts to the homes of well- behaved children on the night of Christmas Eve and coal to naughty kids. Santa Claus is said to make list of children throughout the world. He categorizes them according to their behavior.

New Year
The last in my dream is New Year. Civilizations around the world have been celebrating the start of each new year for at least four millennia. Today, most New Year’s festivities begin on December 31 (New Year’s Eve), the last day of the Gregorian calendar, and continue into the early hours of January 1 (New Year’s Day). Common traditions include attending parties, eating special New Year’s meals, making resolutions for the new year and watching fireworks display. At midnight people are holding their hands dancing in round and singing a song Auld Lang Syne.
Kamila Péčiová

And never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
And days of auld lang syne?
For auld lang syne
We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet
For days of auld lang syne
