A long time ago there lived a rock named Mike. Mike was a metamorphic rock. But this story is not about him. It is about the amazing rocks he would become, the adventures he would go on, and the lessons he would learn. 

One Day Mike was sitting on the river bank having a delicious picnic when silt started to wash up around him. He tried to run away, but he was very slow rock. The silt built up on him compacting and cementing his rock body. It turned him into a giant sedimentary rock the size of a mountain.  

Mike enjoyed being a sedimentary rock. He loved watching the radiant orange sunset over the river from his perch in the mountain. But he felt that the name Mike the Metamorphic Rock needed to change. "From now on I will be know as Sid the Sedimentary Rock," he said.

It had snowed a lot that week. Soon the snow got heavy on Sid. Then one day out of nowhere snow came crashing down. Sid shouted,"Avalanche!" It was to late. The snow crashed into Sid knocking him off his ledge. But, clever Sid grabbed his skis and skied down the mountain. 

"Wow! The avalanche carried me all the way to the ocean,"said Sid. Sid had lots of fun at the ocean. He went surfing and their were lots of other rocks. He even made a friend named Bob. Then one day more and more sand washed up on the beach. He started to have a feeling he had felt before. He realised he had turned into a new sedimentary rock! 

            When he looked up the beach had 

            turned into soil.

Sid loved the farm. He even enjoyed when the farm boys tried to throw him out of the field. They never could keep Sid out of the fields. But, after Sid stayed in the field for a while he began to sink into the soil as more soil piled on top of him. He sank down and the heat and pressure grew around him. He started to turn into a Metamorphic rock! But, he was in a scary new place deep in the ground.

Sid was scared and confused. He was happy to be a metamorphic rock again, but he missed being a sedimentary rock. He didn't even know what his name should be anymore. " Should I stay Sid or be named Mike again?" he asked himself. He decided that he would stay Sid because he knew that his adventures would continue and Sid was the name of an adventurer. He passed his days playing cards, until one day the ground shook and the Tectonic plates beneath him rumbled and moved. It got very hot and Sid melted into magma. The Tectonic plates moved more and a volcano appeared.

Magma Sid was taking a nap in his new volcano home when suddenly the volcano erupted. He was sent flying on his bed through the air, down the volcano, and into the ocean. When he hit the water he cooled and became a rock again.

¨By melting an cooling I turned into a new type of rock!¨ he said in excitement. Sid was now an igneous rock.
