          One day in the year 2012 a human named Jeffery , an 

alien named E.T., and a communist robot named Calci were 

on a stroll through space. They were extremely good friends 

ironically, and were passing through a colony of planets. 

Jeffery said "Man, I'm so glad our planets are ran by the 

Legislative branch." E.T. and Calci looked puzzled, they 

asked "How do you mean?"

            He replied "The Legislative Branch creates laws to 

help people like you and I!" Calci and E.T. both looked at 

each other still a bit lost. The Human said "Our governments 

let the Legislative Branch take over making laws to keep our 

planets' governments fair and not oppressive on the people in 

any way.

   Jeffery said "the legislative branch also covers taxes and 

decides on a fair amount to tax on all items bought in or from 

the county of that government." E.T. asked "what are taxes?" 

and Jeffery responds " taxes are a small price charged onto an 

item to benefit the country as a whole, the government has 

different kinds of taxes. There is income tax, direct tax and 

indirect tax."

     jeffery explains "direct tax is a payment for things such as 

land, and house. indirect taxes are money that goes to someone 

in need from a more fortunate person. then last but not least 

income tax is money taken form a workers weekly payment 

based on how much money they make on that paycheck."

       E.T. opened his eyes in excitement and Calci's one eye 

brightened as they began to understand better. E.T. asked "But 

how do they elect people to help run this branch?" Jeffery quickly 

replied "There are two houses; The Senate and the House of 

Representatives. Every two years or so the Senate has a certain 

number of seats up for election, but House or Representatives has 

every seat up for election. House members must be 25-years-old 

and be a citizen of the U.S. for 7 years.

         For the Senate, you have to be 30-years-old and be a citizen 

of the U.S. for 9 years." Calci and E.T.'s   interest grew even 

bigger as Jeffery continued to explain. They both asked eagerly 

"Go on, keep explaining!" Jeffery began to ponder what the 

Legislative Branch consisted of. Finally his eyes lit up as if the 

light bulb in his brain turned on.

       Jeffery began "Well, much like how our planets are 

stabilized by gravitational pull, our economies of our planets 

are stabilized by the different taxes the Legislative Branch has." 

E.T.'s interest spiked at the mention of planets. E.T. had a huge 

interest in astronomy, so he instantly began to understand. 

Jeffery said "Our governments are elected or chosen based off 

of what the people want."

        "The people or us want someone they can share something 

in common with, almost like their friend. That's why they want 

someone like them in office." "sounds very interesting." said 

E.T. "I think i'm going to see about running for senate myself 

once i get home."
