What is computer networking? A network is a group of computers connected together in a way that allows information to be exchanged between the computers.

What is a Packet? A packet is a small amount of data sent over a network, such as a LAN or the Internet.

What is a (LAN)? A Local area network (LAN) technologies connect many devices that are relatively close to each other, usually in the same building.

What is a (WAN)? Wide area network (WAN) technologies connect a smaller number of devices that can be many kilometres apart.

What is a Node?

What is a (MSC) This is the physical address of any device -- such as the NIC in a computer -- on the network. The MAC address, which is made up of two equal parts, is 6 bytes long.

What is a IP Address? An IP address, or simply an "IP," is a unique address that identifies a device on the Internet or a local network.

What is a bus? Each node is daisy-chained (connected one right after the other) along the same backbone, similar to Christmas lights.

What is a Ring? Like a bus network, rings have the nodes daisy-chained. The difference is that the end of the network comes back around to the first node, creating a complete circuit.

What is a Network Token? Network tokens are provisioned by a card network (token service provider) and domain restricted to a single merchant (token requester).

What is a Star? In a star network, each node is connected to a central device called a hub. The hub takes a signal that comes from any node and passes it along to all the other nodes in the network.

What is a Tree? A tree topology is a special type of structure where many connected elements are arranged like the branches of a tree.

What is a Protocol? A system of rules that explain the correct conduct and procedures to be followed in formal situations.

What is a (P2P)? Peer-to-peer architecture (P2P architecture) is a commonly used computer networking architecture in which each workstation, or node, has the same capabilities and responsibilities.

What is a (CSA)? A Client Server Architecture is a computing model in which the server hosts, delivers and manages most of the resources and services to be consumed by the client.
