Our favourite Easter crafts and activities were....

Jesus crown of thorns made with playdough and toothpicks - We practiced the number value by rolling the dice and insert toothpicks according the number.

Since at Malta we were teaching online, everyone had to do the activities at home by following the live lessons.

Another activity that we enjoyed doing was the Last Supper role play.

Together we worn as the apostles and we remembered the act Jesus done to his apostles; feet washing

After the role play of the Last Supper we also did the paper plate prayer craft. We learnt how to say the prayer before we start eating, the same as Jesus did before he ate the food.

We also did the triumphal entry of Jesus role play, that we celebrate on Palm Sunday. We did the donkey stick craft together, and then we attached it with a broomstick so we can ride it and then we count the leaves and coloured coats, that we had to put on the floor.

Our Favorite activities......

Jezus na krzyżu

Do tego ćwiczenia użyliśmy 3 kołków i szablonu krzyżowego. Odpięliśmy kołki, więc mieliśmy 6 sztuk i skleiliśmy je razem, aby uformować Jezusa. Następnie używamy kleju PVA, aby przykleić Jezusa na szablonie krzyża.

Salt, glue and watercolours...

First children used PVA glue around the egg template and sprinkled salt on it. Then they dipped the paintbrush in watercolours and directly on the salt.

This is a Maltese tradition. We did the pastry ,which consist t of flour, sugar, ground almonds, vanilla, lemon zest, oil and eggs. Then we open the dough and cut the shape with a cutter. After cooked we decorate them with chocolate or icing.

We did this card using a rabbit template and colours.

We traced the rabbit  template on the front of the card

...then we glued the template on the inside...

...we closed the card and add some grass on the front.

We played Easter bingo online....Children had a bingo card each and they had to tick on the card when I pick a card.

Children had to draw the boxes in different colours. When done the form of the egg came more out.

This is an activity where we did the traditional Maltese crosses.  In Malta these crosses are displayed everywhere during lent.

In this activity children created their own Easter egg, as they imagine it. They chose their own medium and resources.

Cooking during Easter time is one of the Maltese favourite past times. We do many different sweets and thus we did these bird nests with my students.

We started our participation in the project by creating a LOGO.

Easter in Poland

 Easter is the most important holiday for Christians. Preparations for these holidays begin on Palm Sunday. This is the beginning of Holy Week, which prepares us for the events of Holy                                    Sunday - the Resurrection of Jesus.

                               At school, we made palms and                                       blessed them in the church.              

These are the crosses made by my students.

On Good Friday we experience the death of Jesus on the cross.

Holy Saturday in Poland is the day of adoration of Jesus in the tomb and blessing the food in baskets.

This is our Easter activity at school. We make baskets, paint eggs, and perform interactive exercises.

We make Easter cards for partners of the Easter Traditions project.

Common Easter wishes of the project partners:

"He is risen as he promised" Christ is risen, is truly risen. Alleluia"

Abbiamo creato il nostro calendario di Pasqua decorando i simboli con i materiali che avevamo a disposizione a casa.      

   "Festa della Benedizione"

La Pasqua nel nostro Paese di solito si conclude con la "Festa della Benedizione", la domenica dopo Pasqua, quando nella bellissima Piazza dell'Obelisco si celebra la benedizione dei dolci destinati a noi bambini: "Cavallucci" e "Palommelle" realizzati dalle suore benedettine.
Al momento della benedizione, la fontana manda un getto d'acqua molto alto in segno di benedizione per tutti ...

... quest'anno la festa è stata annullata, così li abbiamo preparati in casa con le nostre mani sapienti ... sperando che il prossimo anno si possa tornare a festeggiare con gioia e serenità!

Hıdırellez or Hıdrellez is one of the seasonal holidays celebrated in the Turkish world. The day of Hıdırellez, called Ruz-ı Hızır (Hızır Day), is celebrated as the day when Hızır and İlyas met on earth. The day of Hıdırellez is May 6 according to the Gregorian calendar (Gregorian calendar) and April 23 according to the Julian calendar, which is also known as the Rumi calendar.

We associated our Easter activities with the Visual Arts course curriculum and drew a picture.

Since schools in Malta were closed down for a number of weeks prior Easter, we had to carry out the activities at home. I asked students to bake either a traditional Easter sweet or a traditional Easter savoury treat - il-Qagħqa tal-Appostli (Apostles' ring bread). The Qagħqa tal-Appostli (Apostle’s ring bread) is a Maltese tradition. It is baked only in the Holy Week. Traditionally it would have 12 almonds on it in order to represent the 12 apostles. It is usally consumed with butter, ham and cheese, or with tomatoes and olive oil

Other children prepared figolli. A figolla is a Maltese soft biscuit filled with marzipan (an almond mixture). Many of the Maltese make their own to give to others in Easter time, and not just for the children! Traditionally, on Easter Sunday, the children accompany the Easter processions, carrying their figolla with them to be blessed.

I learned a lot of good information about Easter in this project. I will tell you about the celebrations about eggs in Turkey.

The region I live in is a place in the Aegean region of Turkey. Easter is not celebrated here much, but the traditions of Hıdırellez are maintained. When Hzıdırellez arrives, the eggs are dyed. Because eggs represent fertility, rebirth. Painted eggs are eaten as a meal at picnics with the family. On the day of Hıdırellez, good wishes are written on a piece of paper and hung on a rose tree. Those who live by the sea draw their wishes on the beach.

Eggs are sensitive due to their structure. It is difficult to carry. We brought the eggs we painted with our students to school for a week, contributing to our sense of responsibility.
