If you come to the legendary Baranov Klyuch on weekends, be ready to a queue for the water as there are so many people here who want to pray and drink holy pure water.
chapter 2 Origin of the name

A spring in the village of Kozlovka known as “The Holy spring of the icon the mother of God life-giving spring” has been known since the first half of the 19th century
The chronicle of the village of Bolshoe Borisovo says that a merchant named Baranov fell ill and became blind. Once in a dream, the Holy Mother of God appeared to him and pointed out the place where the merchant was to wash himself with the water of a spring .After finding this place , he could see again. As a sign of gratitude, Baranov built a chapel here in honor of the icon which was found at the spring. That is why the spring was called Baranov. It is still believed that the water of the spring can cure backaches, eyes diseases, diseases of the feet and nervous disorder
chapter 3 Some facts from the history

Tired travelers heading to the Makaryevskaya fair would go along a busy trade route that is called “old Kstovskaya road or Olginsky highway” now. They used to have a rest and drink pure water from the spring. But the news about its holy properties spread around Russia a bit later, after a miraculous healing event with the merchant Baranov . A chapel of the spring which was built by Baranov has been existed at this place until 20th century. In 1940 the chapel shared the sad fate of many churches: it was closed, destroyed and forgotten. But there were still photos left , according to which the chapel was revived in 2000.
chapter 4 The secret of the restored chapel

The history of the restored chapel is also unusual
On the wall of the church there is a memorial plaque with the inscription "Recreated in memory of Olga Lvovna Dmitrieva" and the date: 27.01.69 — 5.09.00. Everyone wonders what lies behind these dry numbers of birth and death?

As it turned out, Olga was from Nizhny Novgorod and having once visited the sight of the destroyed chapel she decided to restore it. Together with her relatives, she went to Metropolitan Nicholas to ask permition for a building. But at the age of 31 in September 2000 she died and her husband, a businessman from Nizhny Novgorod, completed her business. In October 2000 the chapel was opened. It is always clean and well maintained. At any time of the year there are fresh flowers – roses, white chrysanthemums at the memorial plaque.
