GREGORY AND 

THE GREEN MONSTER

Everything was calm, Gregorio was walking towards the soccer field where he was meeting his friends for his soccer game. Gregorio was a normal boy, he liked to play, study and watch TV; but he didn't like the color green. His friends made fun of him for this reason, and told him how silly you are, how can you not like the color green if the field where you play soccer is green! But he answered them, I play soccer because I can step on the grass and damage it, "if only green didn't exist the world shouldn't have that color".

Gregorio finished his soccer game and as usual went to his house, the road he always walked was very striking, it had flowers, houses with beautiful gardens,

some big trees that on very hot days gave shade to the inhabitants of the city, but the boy looked at them with rage because of their color, he always kicked them, the flowers he pulled them up and trampled them because although they had many colors their stems were green.  The neighbors didn't like Gregorio's attitude and told him to take care of nature, but he didn't pay attention to them. He continued on his way and suddenly something strange started to happen; a tree started to move as if he was walking, Gregorio stopped and looked back and thought, how strange, I felt that someone was following me,

The tree kept on walking and at the same time it was changing its shape to that of a monster, the boy could hardly believe his eyes, he became pale, he tried to run but his legs were shaking so much that he could not, that strange thing began to take more shape and became a green monster full of anger, and Gregorio just kept still there. The monster said something in a very creepy voice but the boy did not understand; "NOW I AM THE GREEN MONSTER" The boy moved his eyes from one side to the other as if he wanted someone to help him, but it was sunny and he could not understand.

As the monster approached, Gregorio's uniform turned green, the color he didn't like.

My name is "VERDE" said the monster to the boy and I come because you yourself have asked for my help, me? asked Gregorio with a trembling voice, 

Yes, you! 

The boy felt a cold that ran through his body and it seemed that he was going to faint,

-You have nothing to be afraid of; when I tell you why I have come, you will understand why I am here.

You are a good boy to do what you like, you are diligent, decent, respectful of your parents and your schoolmates and people in general, but ........ You are very disrespectful to the planet 

When have I ever been what you say?

Come on, I'll take you to a few places and show you some things that will answer your question.

-Okay, let's go, it doesn't sound dangerous.

GREEN took the boy and with a whirlwind turn they left, in an instant they arrived at a very strange place where the color gray predominated, it was a very sad place.

Gregorio didn't recognize the place, but it was his neighborhood, his neighbors were sad, they looked tired, fatigued, and he asked green

Why are they like this?

Verde showed him some quick scenes where he was destroying the plants, damaging the trees, cutting the grass until he left only the earth. gregorio was astonished and told him 

How do you know that if I did it at night?

-Green replied sadly, "I was one of those trees," he said sighing. 

Don't you know the damage you are doing to the planet with your actions?

Don't you know that taking care of the environment is vital for human beings like you to live?

-I take care of the water, I don't waste it, I think it's delicious," said the boy.

It is not only to take care of the water, the world needs green, in the plants, in the trees, in the forests, look! and he took him to another place, there were some strange beings cutting down the trees..... they looked so much like Gregorio, and green said 

-Look at those trees they are cutting down, they are needed in the world, because without them there is no clean air and humans like you are going to die because of the pollution.

-I don't like green," said Gregorio.

That you don't like green is pure lack of information, look:

and took him to another place, this time it was a forest, but not just any forest, this one was dirty, full of dirt and its surroundings were cold as if only death lived there,

Gregorio asked the monster why there were no animals?  

-Where are they?

and green answered with a cracked voice

They are hiding because they are sick, without a home, without food, -they don't want to live-. 

And green became so sad that it was pitiful to see him.
