I am not human until I have my cup of coffee in the morning and I can't really unwind at the end of the day without my cup of tea. My Keurig allows me to remain human and be able to face my day.
Science-the water heated in the machine creates the temperature needed to create my drink.
Technology-The inside of the machine has a computer board and wires that create a language that tells the machine what it needs to do.
Engineering-the machine uses a compression spring so that when you push the buttons it creates the reaction.
Math-Each K cup used holds 10 grams of coffee or tea which is the equilivant of about 2 tablespoons and makes an 8oz cup.

From television shows and movies that we stream to video games, these three machines connect to each other and do it all. They keep us entertained when we can't be outside.
the Xbox, controller, and tv all rely on signals that are sent through wireless technology to communicate to each other.
All of these machines including the wifi used with them have been created by scientists and mathematicians.
It takes teams of people trained in statistics, biology, computer technology, and computer science to create the machines that let us watch t.v, search the internet and play video games.

Everyone loves a nice fire when it is cold outside.
Having an indoor fireplace is a great way to stay warm.
The fireplace is made out of materials that keep it from burning. The firewood is placed at the right angles to allow airflow and the reaction from striking a match creates the fire that ignites the wood to make it burn.

About once a week I need to get gasoline in my van so that I can get to work, school, shopping, and take my kids to events.
I rely on my van and the gasoline that makes it drive to get from place to place.
Getting gas is STEM
When i pull up to the gas station, I put in bank card into a machine that reads it, transmits a signal to my bank and to the store so I can pay for my gas directly out of the account.
The gasonline I need is made from oil and other protrolium liquids
The Gasoline provides a reaction inside my car that keeps that car runnning.
I also need to do some mental math to make sure I can afford to put gas in my van. My van takes about 15 gallons of gas a week and gas costs about $2.50 a gallon.

My dog Kobe-won hates to get his hair cut, but if I don't cut his hair he looks like a wild animal.
The clippers we use are charged by a battery, it has a display so we know how much power is left and what setting we are using, and the different attachments measure the length of hair that we want his hair to be when we cut it.

I hate to do laundry. Okay, I LOATHE doing the laundry but because I haven't won the lottery yet and can't afford to buy new clothes for my family every week, I have to wash, dry, and fold clothes for four people.
Just washing the clothes combines electronics, technology, and math as I turn it on, and the machine does the work or when I measure how much soap and how much water to add for the number of clothes I'm cleaning.

The dryer uses electricity to produce heat as well as the movement on spinning to dry the clothes.
It has a specific design so that all the clothes are dried and fluffed at the exact same time (minus the socks that are folded up, they don't dry right....always unfold your socks when doing laundry!!)

This is my least favorite part of laundry, folding the clothes.
I have to use both science and math to make sure the clothes are all folded and ready to be put away.
Science-I have to use a lot of kenetic energy to fold clothes
Math-When i fold the towels, i always fold them in thirds, when i fold pants I fold them in fourths.

I could not sleep without my fan. The noise it makes and the fact that it keeps me cool are vital for my evenings. (i hate to be hot, i love to be cold) This fan uses STEM to keep me comfortable.
The electricity from the cord connected to the outlet makes the blades of the fan move and the faster they move the more air it provides.
The remote that comes with it transmits a signal to the fan to tell it what settings I want it to be on.

One of my favorite machines in the kitchen is this amazing little instant pot.
They are pressure cooking systems that create heat under a tight seal, it boils the liquid which creates steam that cooks the food
