Once there was a king named Acrisius and he had a beautiful
daughter named Danae. Then one day the oracle of Apollo told
Acrisius
that Danaes son would one day kill him,to prevent this Acrisius sent
Danae to be locked up in a castle forever. Noone could enter the
castle,
the castle had no doors or entrances except one small window where
Danae could look out. Danae would never be able to marry anybody
or
have children. Danae had no hope left she was locked up forever!

Danae was very sad she could not stop crying about it. Until one
day lightning struck and a man with a thunderbolt in his hand showed
up at Danaes window. Danae was so sirprised she did not know what to
say. Then the man said, "Yes, I am a god and I wish to make you
mywife. I can make this dark prison a wonderful sunny land with many
flowers." This god was Zeus, the god of all gods, the best one out of
everybody else. As he said the horrible castle became very green with a
lot of flowers, bushes, and trees.

Since the castle was no longer a prison Acrisius saw light coming
out of the castle and sent his men to tear down the walls to see what
was happening. As the walls were tore down Acrisius saw Danae with
a
baby on her lap. Danae smiling with her son said, "I have named him
Perseus." Acrisius was furious and sent Danae and her son in
to sea in a large chest. By a miracle Danae and Persues made
it safely to the island of Seriphos. In the island of Seriphos
Polydectes was king and he thought Danae was the prettiest

Island of Seriphos
women he had ever seen and wanted to marry her. The problem was
that Danae did not want to. Perseus grew up in the island
of Seriphos and became a very strong man. If it weren't for Perseus his
mother would have had to marry King Polydectes by force, but Perseus
was always there to protect her. So King Polydectes had a plan to get
rid of Perseus so he could marry Danae. Polydectes would pretend to
marry someone else and he would invite everybody that lived in the
Island of Seriphos.

Perseus was very strong but also very poor. Since it was the Kings
wedding everybody had to take a present. When the day of the wedding
came Perseus had nomoney, King Polydectes was furious because he
had shown up with no present. King Polydectes yelled and
exclaimed at Perseus for not bringing a present and out anger Perseus
yells, "Ill bring you any present you want!" and Polydectes replies
bring me the head of gorgon Medusa!" Perseus was angry and was
going to get the head of gorgon Medusa just to prove Polydecets

wrong. gorgon Medusa was a woman who had been casted a spell on
by Athena for having made love to Poseidon in Athenas temple, as
punishment Athena turned Medusa's most treasured value which was
her
hair into snakes. Also every time anyone would look at her they would
turn into stone. Perseus had to be careful going agaisnt Medusa because
just by looking at her he could be finished, it would be very dangerous
and risky.
