Dear Reader,
Thank you for taking the time to look at these
instructions for life. Included here is a collection of quotes
concerning the many different life lessons a person can learn
throughout their lifetime. Some of these come from the novel To
Kill A Mockingbird which is full of life lessons that are
scattered thoughout the story. Many of these lessons proved to be
valuable to the growth of the main character of the story. Same
goes for many other life lessons others have taught us to go
by in our life. Even though my family
specifically doesn't really give out life lessons, I only
usually learn them from people that I look up to. Life
lessons are good for people. They can help you more than they
can hurt you. They really don't hurt you, because they are
like warnings for the bad stuff out in the world today. They are
just little helpful hints that get you through life in a
different perspective. I hope these instructions for life are
helpful and that the life lessons included are
beneficial.
Sincerely,
Daira L.

"You never really understand a person until
you consider things from his point of
view...until you climb around in his skin and
walk around in it."
~ Atticus

What this quote means is that you cannot
judge a person purely out of looks alone, you
can only truly judge someone as soon as you
understand what that person’s been though in
life. When people judge others on sight, they
may be misunderstood. Both Jem and Scout
learn this lesson throughout the entire book
when looking at Boo Radley.

"...I wanted you to see what real courage is,
instead of getting the idea that courage is a
man with a gun in his hand. It's when you
know you're licked before you begin but you
begin anyway and you see it through no
matter what."
~Atticus

What this quote means is that people should
learn how to fight with their heads instead of
using violence. In this scene, Atticus was
teaching Jem on how to be courageous in any
situation he may be put in without a need for a
weapon of some sort.

“As you grow older, you'll see white men cheat
black men every day of your life, but let me
tell you something and don't you forget it-
whenever a white man does that to a black
man, no matter who he is, how rich he is, or
how fine a family he comes from, that white
man is trash.”
~Atticus

What this quote means is that people should
treat others as equals no matter what they
look like. What Atticus probably means when
he says “ no matter who he is, how rich he is,
or how fine a family he comes form, that white
man is trash,” is that no matter what anybody
looks like, it’s just wrong to treat others like
they are inferior oneself. This is demonstrated
best with Tom Robinson and Bob Ewell and the
situation they were put in.

Lessons I learned or
go by...

Many of the life lessons
I personally agree with and
go by mainly come from either
the internet, movies,
books, or from people
that I look up to.

What This quote means to me is that whoever
you are or appear to be, it's how you act that
really makes the difference. I've come across
many "fake" friends all thoughout my life, 7th
grade especially. Even though a person may
seem nice at first, actually get to know them
before you tell them anything important. Save
that for real friends.
