Stig the Squirrel woke, and started on his day

He was sad and lonely, and never did he play!

"Will today be any different?" he thought

He went out for a walk, it was just before he ate 

It gave him time to really think, 

about his worries.....great!

"Could today be the day?" he wondered

As he strolled, right through the park

He saw a twig, it was long and dark

"I'll have a play with that!" he thought

As he reached, to touch the stick

A voice came booming, loud and thick

"Don't touch that twig, Stig!"

It was Dala the duck, who warned him away

To keep him safe, that's what she'd say

 "I wish I had a friend" sighed Stig

So, that was that, the morning was done

Stig, alone, bathed in the sun

"I might find a friend this afternoon!" 

Stig, was hopeful

When the sun was up, it was time to play

Stig just sat, on his own, all day

"When will I be happy?" he asked

He remembered the twig, how it looked like fun

"I know" he thought, "She won't see, if I run"

"Then I'll be happy!" he exclaimed

So he ran for the twig, as quick as a wink

And so screamed a voice, it made his heart sink

"Don't touch that twig, Stig!"

Maya the Meerkat, had something to say

"Touching that twig, won't help you today"

"I'm keeping you safe, Stig" shouted Maya

"That twig could be anything, giant or small

You might hurt your paw, or trip over and fall" 

 "Another afternoon with nothing to play with!" sighed Stig

As night-time drew close, and Stig grew weary

He hated the dark, why? It felt very eerie

"When will I have the chance to be happy?"

Stig knew it was time, for going to sleep

A day, cast away, with no friend to keep!

 "If only I had one friend" Stig thought

He set off away, on one final quest

To find a friend, he could call his "best"

"It's now or never!" he cried

As he Jumped down quickly, to the ground

His ears pricked up, when he heard a sound...

"I've never heard that noise before" thought Stig
