Once upon a time, there lived a blue seahorse named Edward.
Edward lived in Happy Reef, with his fish friends, Evan and Elaine.
Life at the bottom of the ocean was quite simple. Each day was wet,
and filled with new discoveries. The ocean is quite a wonderful place,
you know. Many colors and beautiful scenes swayed with reefs of coral.
They lived normally as most other fish do and enjoyed swimming with
their school each day and Edward did what he could to be a good
seahorse. He brushed his teeth, made friends often, and enjoyed playing
snailball with his little brother George.

One day Edward came to Evan and Elaine while saying, "I'm bored.
We have really seen all there is to see in Happy Reef. Why don't we
explore?"
Evan and Elaine looked at each other, after a brief pause. "Yes," they
exclaimed together, "We are bored, too!"
"We need to have an adventure." said Edward.
"Where should we go?"Evan asked.
"I'm glad you agree," said Edward, "because I've been thinking we
should see where the currents take us!"

That very day, Edward decided that he would travel in the ocean. He
and his friends came to an agreement they would meet up later before
supper and come home before bedtime. They were planning to bring a
few snacks along.
"Now Edward, remember not to go beyond the rim of Happy Reef. We
must always be on the lookout for our safety." Edward's father said. As
any good loving parent would be concerned, his parents told him not to
go beyond the reef, which was Edward's home, but Edward went
anyway! He decided that things were just too boring at home! And
Edward for one, was tired of his parents telling him what to do. It
seemed like they had a lot of rules preventing him from having fun, in
his mind.

Edward decided he would go talk to Mr. Crab, his neighbor, before he
met with his friends because he didn't know where to start.
Mr. Crab knew how Edward loved to explore, so he told him about the
kelp forest excitedly. "Now listen here, when I was a crabling the kelp
forest had always kept us young'ns occupied! We always had fun with
my crab-mates at that place."
"Sounds good to me, Mr. Crab." Edward smiled.
He was very excited to find a place to go play with his friends! As soon
as Edward was about to leave, Mr. Crab told him, "Have fun, but the
kelp forest can be a bit dangerous after all, you wouldn't want your
parents to worry." Edward nodded his head. "Don't worry we'll come
home before bedtime."

Edward swam quickly to his friends, "Hey! Mr. Crab told me about an
amazing kelp forest. I bet we could have the best hide-n-go-seek game
ever!"
Elaine looked for a moment and then said, "My parents say it's not safe.
We should play here."
Edward sighed, "We won't even be gone that long! We could play a
quick game, and then leave." Evan nodded in agreement than finally
Elaine said, "OK, just as long as my parents don't find out. Let's go
quietly."
Edward was so happy to finally be going on a real adventure, he felt like
celebrating.

So Edward and his friends went to the giant kelp forest.
"This is great! Let's play a game!" Evan said, "How about we play fish
and shark. I'll be the shark and you all can be the fish!"
"OK!" Elaine and Edward shouted happily together.
So they played a game of fish and shark then hide and-go-seek, but
when they were done, Edward didn't know the way home.
Everything looked scary and it was getting dark. "Oh no! we're lost!"
Evan frowned. Elaine scowled at Edward. "We're lost, and it's all your
fault. We should of stayed in Happy Reef!" Edward gave a sad sigh and
continued to swim through the kelp.
